Last Wednesday, this 1-year-old cat was thrown away with all of his belongings on the streets of Brooklyn, NY. Confused and lonely, he was spotted sitting near the only belongings he had left – a litter box, a cushion, and some other cat supplies. Shortly after he was spotted, the cat, later named Nostrand after the street where he was abandoned, ran off when he was scared away by a street sweeper. The local community joined forces to find him.
After a few days of searching, Nostrand was found hiding in a backyard. “We immediately brought him to get vetted, and screened for a microchip,” Flatbush Area Team for Cats (FAT Cats) wrote on Facebook. The cat didn’t have a microchip but he was found to be in good health and was a “dream” during the examination. “[He] didn’t even mind having blood drawn for testing,” Elizabeth Champ, one of the founders of FAT Cats, told The Dodo.
Now Nostrand is in safe hands with FAT Cats. After he’s neutered, he’ll be looking for his forever home, which, luckily, shouldn’t be a problem – many people have already requested to adopt him.

And I hope that all the people wanting to adopt this kitty, will think of other shelter animals if they don't get him. There are many shelter animals still looking for their forever homes, they just don't make it on the news/social media as much.

I saw this on instagram a few days ago. People said he was crying for 2 hours ( i am not sure why no one helped him). I am so glad he was found!

Glad the story went viral and i hope that p.o.s excuse of a poor human reads this. I hope you get stranded in the middle of nowhere! Poor defenseless cat, abandoned at a street corner with his belongings. don't ever get a pet if you're just going to abandon him or her.

In the Bible, God says that animals cry out to him (Job 38:41), thus animals commune with God. To commune with God, you must have a soul. God tells us to care for animals we are responsible for (Proverbs 12:10). Even the commandments of God that forbid any work on the Sabbath allows a person to help an animal in need on the Sabbath. All this to say the God will definitely judge each human on how he/she has treated the animals of this world.

If he had been microchipped would you have tried to give him back to someone who would dump him in the middle of the street? Gotta agree with Shana - adopt from a shelter b/c there are thousands of animals who need good forever homes.

I think that 60% of the problem is that people don't really think things through when they get a pet. Cats & dogs have a life span of about 10 -15 years. Pets get adopted because they are cute as babies - when they grow up and are no longer 'cute' they get given away or tossed out. Also, pets need to be trained otherwise they have 'behaviour problems' - another reason for giving them up.

I remember once someone just left a cat in a box on my family's front porch when I was younger...a kitten actually. We had a cat, and this one my dad said no...so we took him to the humane society...they said if we didn't keep it, they were gonna kill it, and try to charge us. I don't know if there were shelters way back then...(at least 20 years ago)...had to set it free and hope for it
