Well, I’ve done 12+ hour flights with my 2yo son and also gone on business trips alone…and this is what I’ve learned along the way about being a dad.

I don’t actually get to hear my son say goodbye :(

I get motion sickness from Facetime-ing with my son.

Facetime while he is strapped in also yields no results.

I miss my son more than my wife now.

I don’t think “vacation” is the right word for going on vacation with a baby.

Karma exists.

It doesn’t matter whether we are in Hong Kong, San Diego, or London…just find an escalator.

I have a newfound empathy and understanding.

How stressful is getting on a longhaul flight with a baby? I would spend all three wishes on a smooth journey.

There’s a lot more baby stuff than I thought.
