I actually also see it as actually putting oneself down... I mean, if you think that because you can do it, it must mean everybody can, then you definitely don't think of yourself as any better than anyone else in anything.

Everyone is important but it doesn't mean that you and your opinion are more important than the others. It's healthy to respect yourself and to want to be respected as a person... yet no one deserves the respect he/she doesn't give to the others.
Everyone is important; each interaction we have ripples through the world. Every act of kindness makes someone a little happier, and more likely to be kind to the next person they interact with. Every act of indifference or cruelty makes the recipient sad or angry, which they spread to the next person. A simple smile and "hello" could save a life, and that makes us all mean something.
Right and if everyone is important than in reality no one is. Which is the most valuable penny in the fountain? Coins of little value tossed away wondering which of them matters more when together they are worth something. Individual importance is a myth.

This isn't even a truth, that's just trying to be depressing. Most people aren't important in the grand scheme of the world, btu most are important to someone. Some will even change a the world.
But the potato is right. None of us matter if we don't choose to make a difference.
I think this is true you are simply a member in a society that people only care about if they have met you or given birth you or a related to you or you have done something kind do.
