I’ve always been caught having to chose between art and science – between beautiful things and fantastically nerdy things. I went to school both for art and science but couldn’t find a way to blend the two until on a whim, my graphic-designer husband and I started making elegant science gifts. We wanted to make things we thought were pretty enough to give for Mother’s Day, and smart enough to get a chuckle out of the smartest people we know.
These “Social Chemistry” glasses are one of the first things we came up with. Each glass sports some of the molecules found in that particular drink – some of the compounds in wine that make it the drink you love, some things you might find in your favorite whiskey.
We know that you know there’s alcohol in your beer, of course there’s caffeine in your coffee, but there are lots of other things too.
