My name is Alfie. I am based in Malta, a small and sunny island in the Mediterranean, and I am a contemporary artist, video editor and animator.
As an artist, I always strive to showcase all my talent. In my latest project, Riptide, I am happy to have managed to combine all my skills into a single video. Apart from painting process itself, the video also revolves around telling a story through visual editing and animation, creating a very unique experience for the viewer.
The painting was the first task to be completed along with filming. Next were the illustrations and animation sequences. These were the most challenging and time-consuming processes, by far. Finally, all the bits and pieces were incorporated together through video editing. Certainly, this was the toughest project I completed to date. I had so many situations where I wanted to give up because this project seemed just too much for a single person to handle, considering this was not even my full-time job. I had to sacrifice almost all my free time, but worst of all my passion for painting. My wish is to make art for a living. The risk of being self-employed in art is huge but I will keep on trying. I dream of having more time in my hands to handle more projects like this one.
