Finally researchers have unraveled the worlds’ biggest mystery: why cats are so obsessed with cardboard boxes!
The answer…it releases stress!
Two Dutch students tested two groups of cats in an animal shelter. The first had a box in their confinement and the other didn’t. The results showed that the cats with the boxes had significantly decreased levels of stress.
Biologists explain this due to their natural behavioral strategy of hiding. Cats therefore feel comforted by the shelter that a box gives.
