We had the chance to take a sneak peak at the upcoming music video “High Places” – a hypnotic collaborative animation for the band Youthless by Brenda Roberts Costa and musicians Alex Klimovitsky and Sebastiano Ferranti, featuring the artwork of Sofia Schizas.

Traditional 2D frame-by-frame animation techniques were used to compose a 4-minute sequence that proposes a visual experience analogous to music. The initial idea for this collaboration originates from the latest single from the band’s LP “This Glorious No Age” – a song inspired by the silence invoked during a solo hiking trip through the mountains of Peneda-Gerês National Park (Portugal).

“High Places” is a call to and longing for humans to move towards higher ground to observe our place and function in the world from above – an awakening of awareness where “nothing has changed, except everything”. Brenda’s early influences in music visualization from masters Norman McLaren, Len Lye, Oskar Fischinger and John Whitney are evident in this music video.
