Nicaragua is the poorest country in Central America. However, tourism is on the rise due to Nicaragua’s variety of activities, historical sites, breathtaking landscapes, warm weather and much more. This is our top 10 and I am sure we missed a lot.

1. Cheap Food

Nicaragua is famous for street food. You can buy a few pounds of foods that cost a meager $2. It will be wrapped to go in banana leaves and placed in a plastic bag with napkins. Plus you will get a chance to try the most delicious beef, chicken, grilled cheese and veggies. An absolute feast!

2. Interesting driving in Nicaragua

You can drive for roughly half an hour without seeing any signs of human activity and all of the sudden, you get this “Ricardo/Richard” thing.

3. Best and Cheapest Shooting range

There are couple of outdoor ranges in Nicaragua where you can try anything you want, AK, rifles, shotguns, pistols etc. You probably would not see any tourists, therefore you can have the range to yourself.

5. 25 Volcanoes

Nicaragua is often referred to as ‘the country of Lakes and Volcanoes. Most of Nicaraguan volcanoes offer some great possibilities for tourists.

6. Must see Volcano Masaya

Masaya was called ” La Boca del Infierno” or “The mouth of Hell” and was feared by the indigenous people and the Spanish conquistadors. Constant eruptions and visible lava from the depths of the crater had a Spanish priest erect a huge cross in the 16th century in hopes of exercising the devil.
You can walk freely along the edge of the crater and pose for pictures. The park also offers horseback tours and a cave exploration tour that takes place at night and is cool idea if you want to see thousands of bats and glowing lava.

7. Breathtaking views from Volcano Mumbacho

You can go for a day hike up the volcano and this is a must do if you are in the area. This hike can be a bit difficult but the views definitely worth it!

Nicaragua’s eclectic mix of religions simply adds to the wonder of this fascinating country.

Some people choose the snowboard way of going down or you can sit down for a sledding experience. The sit down option is by far faster and more dangerous. Snowboard just sinks in and you plod along.
