Johannesburg photographer Lance Romeo shared something so out of this world that it appeared in his texts. The wedding photographer shared what he calls “the craziest request he’s heard in his career”.

A woman who hired his services for her wedding four years ago in 2019 messaged him, demanding a full refund for her wedding photography because she’s divorced and “no longer needs the photos.”

This client was a friend of his friend, shared the South African professional. “I was doing a photo shoot at her friend’s birthday party,” said Romeo. “Then the friend told me that she has a friend who is getting married and needs a photographer. So I told her ‘Can you give her my number’. That same night when I got home that lady contacted me and said she needed a photographer. She told me that the wedding will be in Durban, her husband’s hometown.

The couple paid 12,000 South African Rand (~$650), less than the standard rate (15,000 South African Rand (~$815)). “After the wedding, I went back home, sent them the photos and moved on,” shared Romeo. “Happy customer, they loved the pictures and that was it. Or so I thought.

Upon receiving the demanding text message, the photographer initially thought he was being hired for another event. But he was taken aback by her wild request. “Well now I’m divorced and these pictures of me and my ex-husband don’t need them anymore,” she wrote to him. “You did a wonderful job with them but they were wasted as we are now divorced I will need a refund of the amount we paid you as we no longer need them.”

Insane. After confirming that she was really serious about his demands, Romeo explained that his work is non-refundable as he delivered the service and photos. “I can’t refund you because I can’t undo the photos,” he replied. “It’s been hilarious, I don’t want to lie. You still haven’t let it show. She is convinced that she needs to get her money back, she is serious and still wants to meet with me. I don’t even know what else to say because this is the craziest thing I’ve ever experienced in this line of work.” commented the photographer.
