Fasting seems to have slowly worked itself back into our collective consciences again, this time for health reasons. While humans have fasted for millennia, either involuntarily or for cultural and religious reasons, the advent of diets that incorporate intermittent fasting such as the 5:2 diet or the ‘warrior’ diet has popularized semi starvation in the western world once again.
Never tried a fast? Let us introduce you to Shen Comix, who also goes under the name of Owl Turd. In his own words he decided to embark on this project because: “The first week of 2018, I decided I wasn’t going to eat anything, because, I dunno, that’s just what I decided for the first week of 2018.”
This isn’t one of those fancy pants, Gweneth Paltrow style detox fasting programs that are oh so fashionable amongst the alternative health crowd. This is straight up, 7 days, no food. Simple as you like.
Scroll down to check out Shen Comix’s hilariously emotional fasting journey, as he goes from temptation, to pain and euphoria. Makes you hungry just looking at it!
Have you been on a fast before? Feel free to share your experiences in the comments!
A huge anti-climax as it doesn't say how he felt at the end or whether it changed him in any way.
Eh? It does say... Those pictures and balloons say it all. He even expressed how he felt by exaggerating, portraying himself as a singer. Whether it changed him? Well, after the realisation, he got back to being his old self and satisfied all his cravings... You can draw the conclusions from that. I think the "realisation" was really self-deception due to the brain activating a protecting survival mechanism.

Not eating for a period of time allows your body to go into a repair state rather than a growth state and purges the bodies of all the rubbish ingested.
Load More Replies...Okay, I might get downvoted for these, because I"m going to say a few criticisms about the posts and comments, but here I go. 1. I'd like for BP to change the title. This is not just "guy", it's "comic artist Shen". He's pretty famous. You know the article about actors changing their bodies for film roles? Immagine you named it "people share their most extreme measures to get a role". Yeah, sure, Shen is not that huge of a celebrity, but I hope you get mu point. 2. It's a shock and a surprise to see how some people here don't know how to read comics. Same with the upvotes suggesting they agree with these statements. He didn't say how he felt?! He did! The text is not the only thing that could be read. Picturea should be "read" too. It's the situations he pictured, the way he pictured them, combined with a little text, come on! Do you really need to be told everything in a direct and literal way to understand it? You expected a diary, or an essay of some kind? Tsk tsk tsk.
Now I understand why comics are largely underestimated by the masses - because the people who misunderstand are too quick to judge. If you don't understand something, please, before reacting, stop. Think. Try different perspectives. A comic is more than just a silly caricature supposed to make you laugh. Imagine reading a haiku and concluding it says nothing.

All of my blood work is greatly improved and yes a big boost in testosterone. I feel twenty years younger. Only problem with intermittent fasting is nobody can make any money from it and Doctors and drug companies lose money from it.
A little diet can be good sometimes, but 7 days seems kind of long :/ And btw after 7 days, don't stuff yourself with junk food, your body needs time to get used to it again :D
nah, binge on pizza, soda and candy and then watch the fireworks!

Being hungry lowers your serotonin, so I would worry about how dreadful your mood and sleep would be. I reckon I would end up being just really angry and sobbing all the time and feeling really sick, but hey I've never really tried for longer than a day so who knows.
Awesome and hilarious, love the gravity falls reference at the end. 💫🌲❔
I did 7 days once. I especially remember a tomato sauce commercial on about day 6. Me inches from the screen and how vivid the color was, I could almost taste it. It looked so 3 dimensional and wonderful. I could not take my eyes off that wonderful scene. I really wasn't at all hungry for the first 3 days. I did it after reading about George Foreman doing something like 29 days
I went on the "Master Cleanse" . . . . hot water with Cayenne Pepper, lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon Maple Syrup. Drink 6 - 12 glasses a day. Stayed on it for almost a month. He is right, you stop being hungry, actually get turned off by food and your senses, ALL your senses become EXTREMELY enhanced.
Even though it must be fun to try and I could last only a day (and even during the nd of that day 1 of fasting, I could feel like I don't ned food at all), don't see anything healthy in this, especially if you overload your tummy with junk all of a sudden when your body is trying to adapt to the no-calorie intake. Coming back after fasting is very important, one must count calories then as well. Or maybe he was exaggaratinn the aftermath as well:
In Islam,we fast for one month from dawn to dusk. Fasting the month of Ramadan gives clarity to mind, shows us what we are capable of,builds willpower, the stomach gets rest from all the digestion-excretion processes and can finally function for cleansing of the whole body off toxins.. :)
It is a bit different. You fast for few hours (12? 14?), not few days. In my country we fast on Christmas Eve (from morning to dinner in the evening) but it is also a different from not eating for few days. Plus, I may be wrong, but don't you fast involve not drinking (anything, not even water) also? This guy drank water. To be honest, while I admire you conviction for fasting all day durring Ramadan, not drinking water for whole day sounds dangerous to me...
