I’ve never considered myself to be particularly talented with a paintbrush, as a photographer I much prefer expressing myself through my photographs however art has always inspired me.

When I was working towards my Bachelor of Arts degree I took as many art history classes as I possibly could, and continue to foster that passion. Unsurprisingly I couldn’t help but get excited last week when my husband showed me the Dreamscope App, website which boasts the ability to turn your photos into paintings. More accurately it allows you to apply the colours, pattern or style onto one of your photos from a painting of your choice. I have to confess once I began playing around with it I quickly realized that this isn’t quite a fine science, but rather an interesting game of chance. You never really know how the two images will mesh together, and for every successful rendering there were usually several unpleasant (and often unnerving) results.

After going through some wedding photos I’ve taken over the last couple of years, I decided to put a gallery together with some of my favourite paintings used as the reference points. I want to dedicate this post to all of you art lovers.
