On Valentine’s Day 2015 the Lazienkowski Bridge in Warsaw was accidentally set on fire which raged on for the whole night, leaving the structure unsafe for use. As the bridge typically serves 100k vehicles daily, a decision was quickly made to rebuild it as soon as possible. The deadline was set for the end of October, which many people deemed unrealistic. However, an ingenious method of the simultaneous removing the burnt segments and replacing them with fresh ones was the key to success. I documented the reconstruction from the early days till the opening, taking more than a hundred pictures. With the traffic jams gone and the bridge in operation I can now go for a walk without dragging my camera with me.
