The 'Odditymall' project was founded in 2012 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Ever since then, it has grown into a very popular news outlet that focuses on the newest brilliant inventions, odd gadgets, unusual product designs, and weird contraptions that appear across the web. As it states on their website, as long as the product is obscure, unusual, interesting, or awesome, "you will see it featured on Odditymall."
The web magazine has branched out to all the major social media channels and has gained a strong foothold there. For instance, it has amassed nearly 3.2 million followers on Facebook and 198,000 devoted fans on Instagram.
'Odditymall' continues to surprise every single design enthusiast by consistently gracing them with the strangest products that can be actually purchased online. It's safe to say that weirdness clearly sells, and it wins over the hearts of many internet users.

For anyone interested in purchasing this (what cat owner isn't?), this was a one of a kind custom made item. Details can be found here: https://laughingsquid.com/realistic-long-limbed-indoor-cat-tree/ The craftsman who made it stated: "Because of the time, (The latest being 3 to 4weeks depends on drying time and so forth), and the labor involved in making something like this, I charge about $3500. to $4000. , this doesn’t include the cost for supplies, that is paid for by my client separately, the total amount is contingent on size, and extras added, material needs varying from job-to-job and time spent. Travel? Yes I do, but you would also need to be able to cover my travel costs, including a hotel room, if other arrangements can’t be made." So - yeah, this thing is very expensive, but it really is amazing.

After all, companies are investing time, money, and other resources into developing solutions that cater to the needs of the users. To make our lives easier. To solve problems we didn’t even realize we had before.
This is just one reflection of product design. A blog post on ProductPlan defines it as the process of imagining, creating, and iterating objects that solve users’ problems and address specific needs in a given market.

It's a concept design from students at the Industrial Design course Sichuan University, from 2012-2013. It is not nearly believable as a real product. LEDs, even laser LEDs, are simply not able to project beams with this accuracy, are not nearly as bright, and the thing has no space for a battery. Other than being based on the completely idiotic idea to focus your attention on the ground a few feet from you instead of the rest of your surrounding.

They claim to have won a Red Dot Design Award in 2012, but there is no trace of it on the official website, publications or anywhere else than articles connected to the original "news"

As Bruce Mau, a designer and CEO of Massive Change Network, explained, empathy is key as it helps with problem-solving. "Empathy is really at the core of everything I do," explained Mau. "When you think about what a designer does, we start with empathy and try to understand the problem that helps us solve it."
Although design thinking is often thought of as a human-centered approach to innovation, modern practices should move towards having more appreciation and insight for the environment. "Everything is designed as if we own nature and as if we're not part of nature," said Mau. "As if nature is unlimited."
But it is not. "We now understand there is a real limit to the boundaries of nature," he noted. "Everything we do has to be designed in this new way. It has to be designed to be part of life and not separate from it."
"It is daunting, but it's also one of the greatest business opportunities in the history of mankind, the opportunity to take on that level of reset."

While we all enjoy a whinge about the weather, I feel I should point out that solar panels work perfectly well in England, even in't north. Average sunlight power per square meter is around 60% what it would be on the equator (yes, taking into account cloud cover). This camper was built in the Netherlands which isn't exactly the Sahara.

"The first principle is design leadership," said Mau. "In other words, design is a leadership methodology, a way of imagining a future and systemically executing that vision. Moreover, the designer believes that education must "unlearn a human-centric approach" and be focused on how to integrate design into the natural world.

Far, far, far too steep. It's a lovely idea, but it doesn't meet the 'is it practical' test. Wheelchair ramps have a rise of around 1 in 12 (5 degrees) This allow easy and comfortable access for wheelchair users. In my country, the max pitch of stairs is 42 degrees. This means the ramp needs to be 8 to 9 times longer than the length of the stairs.

This is nice for carrying a cart or luggage so you can wheel it up beside you without carrying it. But I agree with the other poster it looks a little steep for a wheelchair. Plus the top is not compatible with a flat surface you'd need to wheel off of.

Not really, my crocs only get uncomfortable if I get water in them. But I will say on the rare occasion i do sweat in mine it can get slightly uncomfortable, but it has to be really hot out for that to happen. My crocs are my go to footwear

My parents still have one of these that operates with a pulley system, and they've had it more than 30 years now. This is not a new invention, it just... added an electric component to something that's perfectly funcional through manual means.

How would you clean under that -- do you have to lift the mattress all the way off every time? All the fur and dander (plus hairballs) would not be doing your sleep any good if left to accumulate.

I 1000% wish they had these for ag bikes, you can usually stay pretty dry in a rain coat - but the second you have to get off for a gate... wet seat and wet butt. Even if you carry a towel around the towel gets to wet to work pretty quickly.

Wonderful! Also people with shaking hands, parkinson's, post stroke, etc. I can think of numerous people this would help. Also this would help children's tiny hands too! At first I was like meh, I just use tinfoil, but there are lots of various abilities in the world for many reasons. I wonder if they use these in nursing homes or hospitals? I hope they make them in taco size too!

I'm from Vermont, so I always thought it's what neighbors and friends do when going in opposite directions, to say hello, nice to see you. Farmers on tractors do it to other drivers, each other too. But you don't wave to strangers, unless you're driving in their neighborhood, going too slow, or pass them on a dirt road. On a dirt road, everyone is friends lol. Old ppl will assume you're up to no good if you don't wave and smile. I always thought it was a small town thing. What do you do when you see a friend driving towards you?
