Czech photographer and independent filmmaker Janek Sedlář has created a 50-minute long documentary mapping the work and life of Dutch award-winning photographer Lars van De Goor. The documentary named ‘Step into the world of Lars van De Goor’ focuses on the nomadic life of the photographer, on his artistic skills, and experience of living in a camper van. The aim of the Kickstarter campaign is to collect $15,000 that will be used in the upcoming final stages of production and distribution.

Lars van de Goor is a world-renowned Dutch landscape photographer. In his early professional life, van de Goor worked as a musician but later turned to photography in 2007 which lead him to a life of a photo nomad traveling the world living in a camper van. Van de Goor’s work won him several prestigious awards: the Hasselblad Masters prize in the Season and Climate category (2010, 2016) on the one hand, but also the gold medal from Trierenberg Super Circuit, one of the most prestigious photography contests.

”When I learned that Lars was going to leave his house and live in a camper van as a photo nomad, I knew that was the right moment. I could see an even greater potential in capturing his personal story. A desire to share his way of life by means of a full-length documentary and the overall result started to have sharper outlines. I believe that his story goes far beyond the topic of photography and will impress all photography enthusiasts, travelers, and nature aficionados,” says Janek Sedlář on why he decided to produce the documentary.

The main theme of the documentary is the principle of living life to the fullest and bringing joy to one’s own self and to his surroundings. While focusing on the nomadic life of the photographer, the documentary also catches the artistic views of van de Goor on photography, nature, inspiration, and landscapes. The documentary also leaves space for a discussion on van de Goor’s life perspective and the world he managed to create for himself. ”This documentary shows where Lars gets inspiration for his work and how he perceives himself as a photographer. How he managed to make a living doing photography and we also take a look at his workflow and get to understand his vision,” as Sedlář comments on the storyline of the documentary.

Apart from running the Kickstarter campaign, Sedlář will also pursue documentary festivals such as Bergfilm Festival, International Film Festival Ostrava and Tribeca Film Festival to reach the audience. The Kickstarter campaign starts on the 23rd July and will provide potential supporters with rewards which vary from early-bird prices for the documentary to signed photos or even a partnership.

The campaign for the documentary will run for 38 days and if it is successful, the creator is planning to make it available through On Demand streaming services for a standard price.
