I do not mind this. It is much more preferable to the travesties that councils do here where they hack off only the branches near the overhead power lines rather than levelling the entire tree canopy so you get these weird shapes that hang over roads or walkways

Someone needs to tell them the window tax ended a long time ago.

Anybody else find it ironic that there are solar panels on the roof and only one window? "Let's use the sun to power our house; but also, let's block the sun from our house."

A dark bedroom

This is a house for privacy and vacationing without much disturbance from neighbourhood busybodies. And lot's of sunlight coming in at the back. It also keeps some rooms cool enough to sleep and keep out the sun at high noon. 🙌

Is there some sort of amateur architectural frenzy in Belgium?

Those houses got built by people rich enough to have 5 bedrooms but not rich enough for a small castle. Usually a high standing community member or a dokter would live in it, keeping his office and waitingroom apart from the living quarters. Like a doktors practice would be built with the same addres.

I used to draw roads leading from homes like this when I was a kid

this doesn't belong in this lot.. non-funky, well ventilated, quality roofing and only thing odd is the absence of lawn but that's okay though..
