Whimsical.Gallery was set to launch in April. However with the recent announcements and discoveries by Nasa, we knew we had to commission one of our newly found artists to create something special for this series of works. What could be more fitting for the launch of Whimsical.Gallery than a series of Whimsical Worlds?

So we approached Sarah Webb and worked together on a brief. We wanted to express some of the possibilities that this discovery represented. We explored the potentially Terran planets, their possible landscapes and the variety they could have.

Sarah Webb has a very interesting way of creating her art. She’s a digital artist, but it’s really important to her that her textures and colours are real. To do this she spent the week painting with acrylics, experimenting with her colour schemes and techniques to get the right feel for the objects she was representing.

She then photographed these and used them to help composite and compose the landscapes from her mind. With a lot of work and experimentation she presented us with the first four pieces in this series.
