This Photographer Will Annoy You And Leave You In Anxious Anticipation
546Kviews
For Kinfolk Magazine’s recent Adrenaline Issue, photographer Aaron Tilley and Director Kyle Bean were asked to recreate that awful moment when something terrible is just about to happen.
The project emphasizes the curious relationship between what the mind perceives and how the body reacts. The anticipation causes the body to release adrenaline, even if nothing actually happens, and it is believed that this reaction is closely connected to the fight-or-flight response that was so essential for the survival of our early ancestors.
Take a look below to see what they came up with. The pictures are designed to invoke a sense of anxiety and discomfort as we anticipate the sometimes disastrous event that’s just about to occur. Feeling slightly uncomfortable yet?

The one that induced the most anxiety was the ink drop on the white shirt :-)
Close second to the eggs for me!
In order to make that balloon burst you need to have one nail, or have to apply pressure. It's basic physics and i had a school project about that in 6th grade.
Maybe it isn't about popping the balloon but about making all those perfectly aligned nails fall.
Ah, there, a good explanation for the picture. Nice!
it is when anxiousness becomes curiosity
Since the balloon is helium filled it would move up not down... hence a downward facing pin above it might do it. A whole lot of nails underneath it are not here nor there.... just sayn
What if the baloon actually is falling because after few days helium baloons falls
How do you know it's helium filled?
Your right, some of the photos portray things that woudn't really work. The bowling ball on the bubble wrap is an example. Bubble wrap is made to take a lot of pressure from different surfaces. Only popping one bubble at time works. A grown man could sit on a sheet of bubble wrap and it would burst.
I mean "wouldn't burst"
and i dont think Normal Matches can be struck on a rock.. need a striker or strike anywhere matches.
i think it is that the balloon will float away
Get out of here with your science. We're talking about visuals here, one nail wouldn't have had elicited the same response or emotion, at least from me. I like the grouping.
Also technically if the helium ran out and the balloon fell it'd be all saggy and empty so it couldn't pop either way. For me it would have been the bowling ball.
Yeah well, the visula only works if you turn the picture upside down. Anyone with a little logic can see all the flaws in this picture. There is no way the balloon can burst unless someone (or something) forces it to get down.
