In Indonesia, many children did not have exposure or experience to join a national event. Teachers and parents usually send only children with good academic record to represent their school.

Since 2007, PT Kuark Internasional, has been hosting Kuark’s Science Olympiad (Olimpiade Sains Kuark), a national event which gives all primary school students the opportunity to join the event nationwide. For 10 years, this event has been giving them a lot of experiences, aside from understanding their capability in science, they could also make new friends from other schools, other cities, and provinces. This event has been shaping their critical thinking and problem solving skills, which would lead them to be a life-long learner and persistent in reaching higher achievement.

We are always amaze at the result of giving them the opportunity to join this event. There is no difference between students and teachers from urban, sub-urban, and even rural area, they all have the same spirit to do their best in this event.

Here are some pictures, that show very high-spirited students and teachers from all over Indonesian archipelago. Despite of their limitation, nothing could hold their eagerness to have a better education and achievement. They rode boats, buses, motorcycles, and even walked through the valley, forest and they did it willingly. They came from 34 provinces and 228 cities in Indonesia, with burning spirit.
