If you believed spaceships were only in Sci-fi movies, that new Beijing airport may change your mind. Located in the southern Daxing Region in Beijing, the new airport could be the money of China and has acquired lots of public interest over cultural media.

Estimated to operate by April 2019, the new Beijing airport seeks at lowering traffic from the busy Beijing Capital Global Airport, which is located in the northeastern suburbs of the money city.

Based on the edge between Daxing area and Langfang, a city in Hebei Province, that space-ship like framework spreads over 313,000 sq meters. According to Xinhua, the state media agency in China, the terminals will contain and maintain a volume of 620,000 routes each year alongside up to “100 million passengers and 4 million tonnes of cargo.”

Interestingly, that marks the airport as the 2nd largest airport in terms of individual capacity.

Construction of the innovative type ceiling framework has already started since December 2014 while the design tasks are estimated in order to complete a few months before the function tests, the Contractor Beijing Construction Design Group stated. The construction materials contain 52000 tons of steel while cement covers 1.6 million cubic yards of concrete.

“The project, that is being developed at a projected cost of 80 billion yuan (12.3 billion US dollars), will undoubtedly be among the world’s largest airports ” The China Global Tv System (CGTN) reported.
