8 Pics Of Adorable Munchkin Kitten That Sleeps Like A Human
325Kviews
Probably most of us will agree that nowadays cats are taking over the Internet. Let’s admit that it’s hard to resist how adorably cute and at the same time, funny they are! We all know that if you’re having a bad day, funny cat videos will be the ones that will surely cheer you up for good. Whether they are playing with things that they are not allowed to, getting scared of pretty random objects, or simply adorably sleeping. For some cats, a piece of a blanket in the corner of the bed is enough to have a deep night’s sleep while others really like to show who’s boss and occupy all the space, spread out all over the bed and leaving their owners no space, and that’s really adorable. But the funniest part about their sleeping habits is their various sleeping positions!

There are cats who love sleeping on the side or curled up and that’s really cute but one of our absolute favorite sleeping cat positions is when they lay flat on their back with their legs straight almost looking like a human! And one orange and white calico munchkin cat named Chata is actually pretty famous for this.

Chata from Japan is only two-and-a-half months old but he already went viral on the Internet for his adorable way of sleeping by exposing his round belly and tiny pink paws that are too adorable! After, who wouldn’t want to gently squeeze them? It’s just too cute to handle!

Judging by the blissful and satisfied smile on his face, it’s clear that this little feline is having some pretty sweet dreams without a care in the world. We could only wonder what he could be dreaming of because let’s admit that you surely wouldn’t want to wake him!

Chata is quite new to Instagram as his Instagram account @chavata2023 was only started earlier this year in January. The very first photo on his Instagram featured Chata’s older sister, Chava, who is currently nine months old. Together with his lovely sister, Chata has reached 41K followers on his Instagram and that just proves how much people love them!

I mean...he's cute, I'm not denying it but if you ever consider getting a munchkin, please think twice about it. They may be adorable but they suffer from it and our attention towards these cats is what's bringing them pain. http://www.ejinsight.com/20140904-munchkin-cats-forced-to-suffer-bone-pain-just-to-look-cute/ Yes, I'm fun at the parties, thank you very much.
Thanks for pointing that out Pamela! It's the same with certain dog races (e.g. french bulldog). Don't buy those and if you want to have one, for whatever reason, get them from animal shelters. Just don't give breeders anymore reasons to breed those races. Especially, as those races are often bred under horrible conditions and for selling purposes only. It's the same with certain cat races. - That being said, as cute as the little one on the article is, other cats do sleep cute as well. I mean, there's literally no cat which doesn't look cute or goofy while sleeping.
I once read a BP article "pugs are not cute" and in the end they mentioned retropugs, pugs bred with other breeds to have all the cute features but less of the suffering and health problems. That'll probably work for other dogs and munchkin cats, if only we could spread word.
Same for a lot of pure breed dogs like bulldogs and wiener dogs
It's sad that you've been down voted, people obviously prefer animals to look a certain way rather than them be healthy.
This is really sad. Thanks for sharing the article. It probably sleeps this way because it is in a lot of pain :(
I had no idea what they were until I googled it. What a terrible thing to do.
yes-very cute but a sad mutation
It needed to be said. Breeding poor helpless animal causing health issues in all of the breeds just so you can line your pockets from profiting of the babies (most breeds end in cancer around age 5) is very selfish, esp since there are million pets gets put down yearly because they no longer have a home. It’s greedy & selfish to breed ... to be clear, in case someone is wondering, I’m saying this to ALL BREEDERS!
Yes! Say it louder for the people in the back.
Guys, I used to worry about their heath issues too. Turn out, it's all speculations and I found no proof at all. This site also said the same thing (I know it's a pro-munchkin site, but he isn't wrong either!) https://www.munchkincatguide.com/do-munchkin-cats-have-health-problems/ And if you go to the website you posted. There are tons of comments from real users who say there is no problem with the cat! read it all the way through!
Also if you can't adopt animals, look for reputable breeders. Some breeds have not so obvious problems, like hip dysplasia, because people are trying to get puppies fast, or that look a certain way, instead of looking for mates that are properly healthy.

I had to google munchkin cats, and it’s awful how they get them. We live in a sad world. People are paying money to have animals genetically modified to fit their demands.
i couldnt agree more... we do live in a sad world, enough isn't really enough for us.. Unfortunate!
In Holland the breed is not recognised. They are handicapped with those short legs. I feel sad seeing these photo's. I adopted a Munchkin X from a foreign shelter as nobody wanted her. Only her front legs are a little shorter. She can climb with ease. 12-6-15-30...dad0de.jpg
They are not genetically modified. It's a natural dwarfism mutation which is selectively bred for. No genes have been modified. However, breeding for a gene which can cause harm to the animals is wrong, and the breeding of dwarf cats should not be encouraged. Giving them a 'cute' name like Munchkin is a marketing tool to hide what this really is.
Selection for a genetic defect is what ppl have done. Common enough in the horse world. Sadly
The ridge in the rhodesian ridgeback dog is also a mutation that was selectively bred.
Oh if only I weren't allergic to cats...
I was supposed to be highly allergic to cats growing up, we had 28 of them. Grandma did not believe in wasting money on a vet:/ I have always had cats, never have issues, except when being tested for allergies, when I still show up as highly allergic. More than one Dr has told me a cat would put me in the hospital. Not recommending this as a way to build immunity. However, kids, and even adults, that live closely with animals and the outdoors tend to have much stronger immune systems.
to be honest you can eventually get used to them. your system will change. you could try being a temp owner ( ie. cats awaiting adoption).
That's not how allergen immuntherapy works. It actually involves subcutaneous or sublingual introduction of minute but increasing amounts of an allegen over time. It must be done in a controlled setting, and uses much smaller doses of the allergen than would be encountered during environmental exposure. It also has side effects, which are usually minor, but in rare cases, allergen immunotherapy causes anaphylaxis, and the patient can die without treatment.
That is exactly the experience of my Mum, also "highly allergic" to cats but living with several of them without problem for many years now. Every time a new cat moves in, she shows a slight reaction but it gets better when she is used to the cat. And she never shows serious allergic reactions to any cat as allergic people, especially higly allergic people, do who avoid all cats. I cannot wait when the avoidance of allergens will finally be revealed as nonsense and be frowned upon just as we now look down upon at the excessive bloodletting done with so much conviction in the Middle Ages. Medical science urgently needs to advance and shake off old beliefs.
is that fact ? please, explain. thank you
Get a Russian Blue or Siberian cat. What one is allergic to is a protein in the animal's saliva; since they lick themselves, allergic people react. But Russian Blues and Siberians have a statistically significant smaller percentage of that protein, and unless you're supersensitive, can happily live with a Russian Blue. The Blues are also very affectionate, not to mention beautiful. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fel_d_1, and google for more info.
I know, right? I'd be happy to give a cat a home, but my allergies are awful. I can't even visit friends with cats, and over-the-counter antihistamines just don't help. :(
Try this: Get a cat, find a back up- human in case this doesnt work: the first three months, take allergy medicine to combat the allergy, then slowly ween yourself off of the medicine. You have a 70% change of now being resistant to your cat. (not other cats. just yours)
