Shan Jiang has always focused on bikes in his illustrations

“I used to go everywhere by bike as a teenager, even if the destination was on the other side of the city. I enjoy feeling the breeze on my face, the air and even rain!”

His new book of illustrations shows his signature bicycle exploring unknown worlds and dystopian landscapes with a feline friend

Shan Jiang has continuously created cover designs for The Ride Journal from 2008 to 2016, always using his distinctive style

“The story is about a cat travelling around the world and meeting all different types of bicycles, set in crazy, dystopian landscapes”

There is also a stunning coloured-in section in the book for colouring inspiration

Comic books are Shan’s main influence: “I’m a big fan of comics, especially the work of Otomo Katsuhiro, Paul Kirchner, Matsumoto Taiyo, Jean Giraud and Igarashi Daisuke.”
