The Graf Zeppelin was the first aircraft in the history of humanity that flew over a million miles, made +500 flights & 144 crossings over our oceans.

Traveling around the world was possible during the 1930’s, not with a plane, but most often with a ship, and for those who had bit more money in their pockets, also with the Graf Zeppelin, a record-breaker with its pioneering operations and flights. The numbers record it operated more than 17,000 hours aloft which equals nearly two years.

The LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin (Deutsches Luftschiff Zeppelin #127) was built in Germany and was able to carry on passengers. It was hydrogen-filled, rigid airship and it was actually operating commercially in the period from 1928 to 1937. Then, the World War II happened, and commercial traveling around the world just for the sake of traveling was not much of a option. In 1940 it was even scrapped for fighter plane parts.

The Graf Zeppelin picked its name thanks to Ferdinand von Zeppelin, a German pioneer of airship, who was a count, or in German Graf, hence coming from a very prominent, wealthy and noble family. As a technical and innovative achievement of its time, the Graf Zeppelin was considered one of the longest airships, and made a total of 590 flights.
