‘Skin And Bones’: Stray Cat Gets Rescued, Finds A Loving Home, And Transforms Unrecognizably
Interview With OwnerStories of abandoned cats sometimes sound like fairytales. Abandoned and neglected, they are thrown out onto the streets and have to survive in terrible conditions but then, one day, kind people find them and take them home, where these cats completely transform and blossom. That’s the story of a stray cat named Dinah, who once was thrown out onto the street, but now lives in a loving home. Scroll down with Bored Panda’s interview with Dinah’s owner Rebecca!

In July 2019, a girl named Molly Sotak first noticed Dinah, who was in very bad shape. Molly tracked her for a few days and realized that she was very sick and needed a vet. “She was like skin and bones. I think I was keeping a tab on her for probably about four or five days before I was actually able to catch her,” Molly told the Dodo.

A girl contacted the Stray Cat Alliance and they agreed to take care of the kitty

The cat had significant health issues

“Well, the black on her face is fleas and flea dirt! Her whole body is infested with fleas. She is emaciated, dehydrated, has a severe upper respiratory infection and painful ulcers on her tongue, which are consistent with calicivirus. Between the congestion and ulcers, no wonder she can’t eat. She is now getting flea meds, antibiotics, and IV fluids,” wrote Stray Cat Alliance on their Instagram about Dinah’s medical condition.
But quickly healed and found a loving home

They got Dinah a medical check-up and took care of everything. In no time, what was once a stray cat transformed into a beautiful, strong, and healthy feline. She even found a loving family and a perfect home. Her new owner—Rebecca Schneider—saw that Dinah had gone through a lot of hardships. “Our cat of 14 years had developed a heart condition and sadly passed away. After mourning her, we decided that it was time to give a new kitty a loving home. We visited a handful of shelters, all had very lovely cats, but we were waiting for the instant connection. It happened when I saw Dinah (formerly Nina). She was shy and somewhat cautious but seemed as interested in me as I was in her,” explains Rebecca to Bored Panda.

“She seemed very interested in us (my husband and I) but she was terribly shy and unsure. We didn’t know much about her history, just that she was a stray kitten that had been rescued by the shelter and that she had spent some time in a foster home. But ultimately, she ended up back in the shelter’s care,” Rebecca remembers her first reaction when she saw Dinah.

Rebecca adopted the kitty and gave her a new beginning. Now Dinah is a brave and confident cat who loves to play and make her family happy. “She is a fluffy little clown, she always has us laughing. She loves to play and follow us all around the house. She likes to ‘help out’ with chores like making the bed and loading the dishwasher. She likes watching TV with us and overall just wants to be a part of whatever is going on.”

Now Dinah is a happy and a healthy cat!

More news like that please :) Last photo is amazing and she is so fluffy, happy and i'm glad she found a home! :)
So glad she was rescued, nursed back to health and found a forever home. If people were more responsible with there pets by getting them spayed/neutered, it would make a world of difference in the population of unwanted animals. Cats can multiply so much faster than dogs. But at least for Dinah her story turned out so happy. Thanks to the person that picked her up and got her help and the vets that treated her and then the person that gave her a forever home. TNR works for feral colonies too, so glad there are people that do that to keep the colonies down. And I praise the people who take care of colonies by feeding them, i think if they are being fed that keeps them from killing birds and small rodents, other that mice and rats, that could become extinct because of cats killing and eating them. I'm a cat lover I have 2 adopted one I got from the humane society in my city. They both are company to me and also entertaining. 1 male 1 female both neutered, done before they can be adopted.
When I got down to the 2nd pic of her clean and caught my breath... she looks just like my little Ragdoll named Buffy! Same seal point face and mitts! Same gorgeous blue eyes that start dark blue and fade out to an ice blue. This little girl wants outside in the WORST way but we don't let any of our cats outside. She is the most beautiful cat I've ever seen, so soft and purrs the second you make eye contact, but she's ever so dim and naive. She'd end up just like this, I just know it. She is SO FREAKING FAST just running for the bedroom door to get out when we brought her home. She wants out the front door so bad! Poor little baby! I'm so glad she's found her forever home and people who love her.
My dad saved a kitten that was hit by a truck in front of him. He had about 20 broken bones and could not eat. A month later he was running around happily (though not symmetrically)
The fact that he was running around at all is what's important. Your Dad is an angel 😻
Load More Replies...We saw a similar transformation with our rescue Lola. She, her mother and sister were found living under a bridge, was literally skin and bones, also had fleas, and contracted feline herpes, so her eyes were so swollen and full of pus, she could barely open them. Same with the nose, not to mention tons of sneezing. We got her to a vet, and they took care of her for 15 days before we could finally take her home. She's 6 now, completely healthy and gives my family and I lots of love and laughter. Adopting her was the best decision I ever made.
Funny how the same thing just happened to me. I 'veux found a stray baby with the exact same illness just two days ago. I'm triying to save it. But the're no charities where I live, and I can just hope the baby will survive. PRay for it, friends,
I'll pray, and I'd send help, too. I know what it's like to rescue
Load More Replies...I don't understand where the proof is that this cat was "abandoned". I wish they wouldn't use that term so quickly just to garner more sympathy. It's a sweet story all on it's own.
It said she watched for several days which is what is recommended.
Load More Replies...Poor kitty was literally hours to a few days from death, Thank You Molly for getting to her in time, Thank You to Stray Cat Alliance for nursing this lil lady back to health and Thank You Rebecca for loving her and giving her a loving family home!! Her eyes are captivating and like the saying goes...she cleaned up well!! She's a beautiful, classy Lady now ;)
Wow she is stunning! This just proves that adoption can bring you a surprise that most people pay far to much to breeders to get. My handsome kitty was the same. He was not a breed standard so he was thrown out to fend for himself. Turns out he was a Nebelung cat. The breed is not very old, but if she had kept him she would have seen what he would have become. He is a stunning cat in his own right and I am so lucky to have him.
I cried and almost vomited from seeing the initial photos. Glad I scrolled down, Dinah is now healthy and beautiful. Kudos to Molly Sotak for rescuing Dinah.
What a beautiful story of a beautiful cat😊... Sonka is right, owners should spay/Neuter their pets. And one day when their beloved companions are no more... HONOUR their pets by adopting from animal shelters🌹💞🌹💞.. May Dinah be happy always ❤️
Wish more people thought like you 💞 I always tell people that you never replace your pet that has gone, but you continue the legacy of love that you both had by giving another cat - or dog, as the case may be - a loving home. Our cats that have gone seem to always send another cat in need to our home 😸 I'm not the only person who believes this!

What a lovely transformation... and those topaz eyes! One of my two cats is lying on the desk in front of me as I read this... She and her adopted step-sister are both rescues (one private and the other from the RSPCA) and are living their best lives. I give them care, food and a warm home- they go outside for an hour or two every day. I had them spayed as kittens- some people (including my neighbour) think its better for a cat to have a litter of kittens before being neutered. Truth is, it is better to neuter them before they have their first heat- reduces the chance of them developing cancers. Part of caring for a pet is to ensure there are no unwanted litters... there are 2 separate kittens in the photos. The 1st photo and the 2nd photo are totally different kittens (both needed help mind you).. scrolling down it is shown again that there are 2 different older kittens. Glad they were both rescued though.
I noticed this also. And photos credits are different too. I only see all photos are of one grown up. Face is full color. Rescue only has around nose on face. Kitten in photo credited to Molly is brown on backside from nose to tail. Nice story; wrong photos.

I wish all lost or abandoned cats were as lucky as Dinah 💖 Thank you, Molly, for not turning your back on Dinah's suffering - you are the *BEST* It does seem there are two different cats - pics one and four - and the first has Molly Sotak credited. Please tell us that both kitties were rescued and helped. THANK YOU for EVERYTHING you do, Molly. Dinah looks just like our lynxpoint Maine C**n Sweet Hootie Blue-Eyes.
This little girl is a beautiful cat. My heart broke for her little flea infested face and body. So happy that this little girl got a loving forever home. No animal should be thrown away. I’d rescue them all if I could! There is a special place in Heaven for those who help the helpless animals.
OMG... she is GORGEOUS! She is definitely a Ragdoll... I have 2 purebred Ragdolls and she is IDENTICAL to one of mine. Same facial markings, same insane blue eyes. So glad she is in a forever home!!!
How can people do that to harmless little kitty. It seems to be a sacred cat of Burma.
Don't know for sure if it's a Birman, but it does have those sweet white gloves.
