Inspired by the beauty of pollen grains as seen under a microscope, Swiss designers Regine Cavicchioli, Roman Jurt and Michael Kennedy created a series of pollen lamps. They chose to design hay fever’s main triggers in Europe: grass, birch, ragweed, dandelion, sunflower and ash pollen.

They recreated the pollen based on microscope (SEM) images and 3D printed them with nylon powder using Selective Laser Sintering technologies. The Pollen Lamps were displayed in different places to illustrate pollen dispersal. Ever wondered what makes you or others sneeze uncontrollably? You might want to take a look at our Pollen Lamps and maybe even buy one. You can find more information about the project on the Pollen Lamps website.
