Rather than spending thousands of pounds or hundreds of hours sourcing beautiful locations, I decided to use my boring everyday surroundings and turn them into beautiful backdrops for my family photography business. I knew I could find beauty in the everyday places around me to make stunning photographs. It was just a matter of perspective.

This image was taken against the backdrop of an old outbuilding that was soon to be demolished. I loved the pink wall and knew I could use it as a backdrop of some sort.

On this particular family photoshoot, I spied an old log store at the bottom of the garden. It created a fantastic backdrop for this family portrait.

Who needs expensive flower backdrops when you have this growing in your garden! With the model standing on a step ladder and taken close to sunset, I was able to get this shot!

These hollyhocks grow in our village every year. With the right light behind them, they make a magical backdrop.

My son likes to ride his bike around this bit of wastland in our village… it’s not picturesque at all, but I managed to grab this shot.
