My Paper Adventures With Alice In Wonderland
I am a Russian paper artist and illustrator known as Talamaska. Two years ago I made my first series of paper illustrations of “Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland” by L.Carroll. That’s where my way as a paper artist started. There were three things I liked the most: the sharp knife I use, finding secondary meaning in fairytales, and symbolism in illustration.
I designed and cut 5 Alice paper-cuts (25×25 cm) that were shown on my first personal exhibition in Moscow. Though time has passed, I’m still obsessed with the story – I want to speak about it more and from different angles. That’s why I have great plans this year for the new Alice series, and there’re some new paper-cuts I’d like to show as well.

Oh I love them. I have an entire leg tattoo of Sir John Tenniel's illustrations of Alice. If you ever sell them, I would love one!

lovely! do you get paper cuts often when you're working? how long does it typically take you to finish one?

Thank you! No, not often. I'm fine)) Usually it takes me from 8 hrs to 2 days to cut one piece(format and the amount of details matters ).
