I Create Beautiful Images By Painting Over Photographs
My mother was never able to live from painting due to prejudices encrusted in her society on her youth, so to survive, she resorted to sewing. The recurring concept was: “Painting is not for a woman; sewing is alright!”
Fact is, I learned to like painting because of her. When I was a child, I used to scramble all her brushes and play with her tubes of oil paint. Many years later, I attempted to start painting with watercolour. It was such a struggle, I thought that I’ll never make it.
After numerous tries, now I think I have found myself through the combination of painting and photography. Using a special software, I paint over photographs until I can get something that is pleasing to my eyes, just like a real painting.
I know it is not a concrete and palpable one, but I feel the pleasure of painting, even if just digitally!

This is a brilliant idea, but wouldn't you ruin the actual picture by painting over it?
Emily, my digital art is a way of releasing some of my passion for painting. However, I am terrible painter and digital art is far more forgiving. What I do is to apply various pieces of software and a lot of manual work to produce the final result. The original picture is intact and I also use it for other purposes. Thanks for commenting.
