My name is Carlos D., I am an artist from Los Angeles, California. I officially became an artist in November of 2018. Prior to that I was a police officer for the Los Angeles Police Department. After serving the community of LA for over 10 years and having served in the United States Marine Corps for 4 years from 1999-2003, I became extremely passionate about making my dream of becoming a successful artist into a reality. And so in November of 2018 I resigned from the LAPD to begin my new journey in life. In January of 2019 I arrived in Florence Italy and began to study fine art. During my time in Florence I explored multiple mediums of art to include print making and making my own music. I spent all of my time, from waking moment to bedtime reverie, either thing of and creating art, or meditating on a silent mind.

The theme behind my still life paintings is “an awareness of one’s perspective of one’s personal life experience.” To be in a state of consciousness of a high level of awareness that gives one the ability to observe the constant flow of thoughts that enter the mind. Thoughts of the past, the present, and the future. And to examine those thoughts and discern what value those thoughts have to my current life experience. Then to recognize the true nature of this life experience, that everything is exactly as it should be. Awareness is power.
