My husband and I moved to SC back in Nov 2002. We were fortunate to be able to purchase an unusual property right on Main St. Our 1928 Ouse came with 1.3 acres and an old unrestored 1930 filling station. We were able to get the history of this station from the “children” of the original owner. They were all up in age and lived locally. This station started out with GULF gas…then switched to PURE then lastly TEXACO in the late 40s. The station closed in 1953. For many years it sat empty or was used for storage. The local HS even used it to store instruments for its band. This stucco building was never painted. The original door, windows and hardware were all original. We spent 7 years restoring it…took it back to a Texaco Station. We spent a good bit of money on the 3 cement jobs and roof. Finally in Nov 2010 Nostalgic Station hosted its 1st Classic Car Cruise. We have met so many neat people and all love the photos taken here. This photo is one of many done here at Nostalgic Station. Rich & Cindy Kuhnel. Nostalgic Station. 1110 W Main St. Laurens SC. 29360. (864)984-0527. We are hoping someone loving old cars and vintage gas stations will have their wedding here sometime !!
