Nintendo LABO Piano Pop-Up book: Final build – Detailed demonstration and close-up of all functions of this fully functional and interactive paper LABO piano.
I’m happy (and proud) to finally present the end result of my Nintendo LABO pop-up piano! In this video, you’ll see a close-up demonstration of all functions and explanations of the techniques that are used to make this possible.
Based on the original Nintendo LABO Piano, this is a 100% paper pop-up piano that folds into a thin book.
This (fan made) LABO pop-up piano is packed with all kinds of neat functions:
• Fully functional keyboard
• Pop-up Switch stand
• Waveform scanner
• Waveform selector
• Effect key scanner
• Effect keys holder
• A two-way tremolo switch
• Paper spring push buttons
• Reset bar (keyboard lifter)
• Piano lid drop
How does it work:
The Joy-Con emits a beam of invisible infrared light that is reflected back by markers, enabling the camera to read their movement.
This project was a lot of fun and challenging at the same time. I never thought I would be able to build in all the functions. Even though, it seems like a bit too much, bulky and maybe “over-engineered”, the main goal of this project was to achieve a working keyboard and from there on, I got sucked into challenge after challenge and lots of problem-solving.
