Olympic track and field sprinter Allyson Felix had a beautiful baby girl in 2018 named Camryn you may already know that but did you know this: in 2018 Felix asked Nike for maternity protection and guess what they said, “NO”, yes they just told her straight out, “NO”, we will not give you maternity protection and she told the new york times that she was already offered 70% less of what I had been paid before. I can take less money. But at one point that she wasn’t willing to budge around was maternity, and not because she was planning to have another child. But just because it’s the right thing to do. And if not for her, for people coming after her as well and then this is what Nike told her “just know your place and continue to run” yeah I know right and can you guess what she did next yup she cancelled Nike as a sponsor and now instead of getting sponsored from another huge company she started her own company called”Saysh” and guess what happened next Nike’s sales dropped tremendously

and there’s more, About her pregnancy, she told the new york times that “Putting really strict requirements on our returning to competition takes away from our mothering. It could jeopardize our health. she was not aware that she was at a higher risk to have complications during birth, but what she has since learned is that African-American women are four times more likely to die in childbirth and twice as more likely to have complications. And that’s exactly what happened to her. You never know what type of birth you’re going to have. When she went in for a routine appointment at 32 weeks, she never went home. she gave birth to her daughter two days later and spent the next month in the hospital between herself and her daughter. And while she was spending countless hours in the NICU she’s coming home at 1 a.m. trying to figure out how she can get to the gym to put a few hours in, because she knew she had to be ready to run in six months. Many times she just felt like, you know, she was in an impossible situation. If she’s been told no, you won’t have any protection around maternity, then it’s going to be really hard for someone else. This has been going on forever. If you talk to any woman, she guarantees you that they know someone who has been through this. The sports industry allows for men to have a full career. And when a woman decides to have a baby, it pushes women out at their prime.” thanks for reading.
