New Year Night 2017 In Chernobyl Exclusion Zone

Celebrate New Year in the middle of the exclusion zone? – Easily!

I agreed to this adventure …It was a “bad” idea ! I could not imagine how much suffering awaits us!

December 17 ,my friend Zheka( Dgek Osypenko )wrote me. – Lets go in Chernobyl Exclusion Zone to selebrate New Year Night!

To think a little I agreed, but only if I will get some money on this hike. Becouse such thing is not on free. I needed to chip in money on stew and also I needed to bye some new equipment…

And it was so…

And it was as usual:
– 2 weeks before trip «Roma» I mean ME, do nothing.
– 1 week before trip «Roma» means ME,started to looking for money and bying equipment.
However for equipment I bought snowshoes and a jacket «Bundeswehr», in order to safe myself from water and wind.
The benefit to me(with help of my subscribers) everything worked out! By the campaign is ready!

In Kyiv my friend Sergey was waiting for me.We meat Zheka (Dgek Osypenko on youtube) and moved to Natalie .At her place we left our backpacks and went to the shops to bye food, canned meat purchased at the “Rally”. Having packed everything we rushed into the Zone!

And here it is morning! And then it starts!

Border crossing in Zone was unusually perfect and I remember I once sad that its surprisingly all too well.
And than it started!!!

The road ended and we must go threw the forest. Well, the forest was not a problem, and the trouble was that there was water underfoot. Swamps of Polesie already hinted about yourself. But that did not stop us, we were eager to force the target!

After a while the “road” became better.Only occasionally the path was blocked by forest rivers and we needed to overcome them in one way or another.It was not the best case.Videos should be noble, but it is not about that!

By the night,we come out on the road and it meant that before us «Vilcha».In Vilcha are working sawmill ,checkpoint and border of Exclusion Zone.Anyway we are not welcome there. At first we planed to go on the road as it was but we quickly realized that it was impossible.There have been too active everything.
The new plan – to get around the forest.Along the road was moat (its normal practice for the Zone)
My friend Zheka decided to jump over moat in tight spot. But as experience has shown,that it is not too narrow and in a result – Dgek knee-deep in water.On a few seconds we thought that this is it!This is the end of our hike! But somehow we managed to get together and decided what to do next!Plan was to get to Kliviny station as quickly as possible.There had to be a big camp with a fire, where it was possible to dry things.
But not all so simply! We have not spared Vilcha!We didn’t have a choise,we couldnt delay and here we go off the road into the woods.Somehow without realizing we were in the middle of the swamp,but no way back. We were jumping over bumps, which quickly went under water.

At the next jump, I slipped and felt in water by one leg on knee-deep.But for happiness I had snowshoes and they defended shoes from getting into the water.We had lucky to get out but it’s much exhausted us..

Further,the road to Kliviny was good enough.
– Yes, we have come!! Everyone was exhausted, I wanted to fall to sleep, but first a snack!And friends also still had to dry wet shoes

Morning. Well,as morning…

Well, as morning…
We woke up about 12 o’clock. By the way I can say that we slept almost on the street, because our house was without windows and doors. Temperature was 0 teel -2 but but our sleeping bags have coped! – Gone baptism Zone!

The time was to start on! Bags are collected and go!

Since we are behind schedule, we had a long way up. A place for the next stop was Tolstyi Les station.We needed to go 10 km to this station by overground raylwails and I should say that this is a bad thing .

The last few kilometers afar looks like a road,we reached the pontoon bridge, which the military left over the river in the years of liquidation.

Then came along overgrown railroad and I should say it was hard. Rapidly getting dark but we have already passed the input light cherished station, to the darkness approached the railway station building.There we made a halt.

On a halt drank tea, ate cookies with condensed milk! Sewed someone’s note in which was said to leave the candy as we did.

But no time to relax! We still have a lot to go, and New Year’s so close!

Through the pain and suffering, and Oh yes! Through the over ground railways we have moved on.
And then at one moment I noticed that Natalie has masochistic tendencies … The more difficult was the way,the more she enjoyed it. She liked to suffer! What is more regrettable Jeka and Sergey mowed under it! Guys overcome by fever ZONE! And only I had sanity! It was gritting my teeth, getting branches in the face of the front running Natalie, and quietly «crying that I am dying»   .

In the night, exhausted and tired, we reached the goal – the village “X”!

We had energy only to make a fire in a fireplace.

Morning 31.12.16

Morning 31.12.16, and a lot of stuff to do.In general it was preparing the house for the New Year. We had to figure out how to seal the windows, install doors, clean.Didn’t waste time, after breakfast went to the village for the swag, no disdain, hauling everything from dishes to toys. It was necessary to equip your house!

Stalkers

There we met, another group of stalkers, they went to meet the NY in Pripyat. A little later we learned from the news that they were arrested and they celebrated in the Police district department.

The day passed quickly! And through the dark, Sergei and I went went to the forest for the Christmas tree.It was modest…But it doesn’t matter,for the table, and chic atmosphere is the best!

By the way in this campaign, I even allowed myself a drink,New Year party anyway.I hope you will not judge me about that.  .
New Year was celebrated under the chimes of the Belarusian radio (there is no other catches). The atmosphere was positive,2017 was met as it should!

01.01.2017 Snowman

We had a legitimate day off, we slept, then walked through the village and built a huge snowman. It took almost all the snow from our yard and we had to walk over the snow to the neighbors (Snow stoked in order to get water).

In general, the days passed quickly as we slept for a long time, and already beginning to get dark at 16:00 …

02.01.17 Ghost town of Pripyat.

Planed to go to Pripyat. It was decided to go light, we took backpacks only all the most necessary.
Reached without incident.
As we started before dawn,by dawn we were on the roof of one of the apartment buildings on the outskirts of the city. There we drank tea. Then went to our apartments, we had there hoarded stocks of food. Gathering the things we have come to the walk by Dead Sity.

On that day, it was quiet, the patrols have not seen, there were a few excursions, but we do not interfere with each other Everybody going about their business …

We sat on the roof 16-th floor building and admire the views, and tourists walked down and watched us in the lenses of their cameras.
In such day we spend day. The time was to come home (to the village to the fire).

The next night shift … Rest … And the way home …

We went there when it was still dark, strong wind was blowing, and standing still was pretty cool. Enough to walk up on a radioactive burial ground they decided to move on,but I didn’t liked such idea because I did not take off anything on camera. It was dark, and in the dark, the camera does not see too much. So I said goodbye to friends and stayed to wait for dawn. Calmly photographed Buryakovka and moved toward the checkpoint there jokingly asked Militarized security to give me a protocol Further, all as standard, Militarized security called the police and we went to take shape in the glorious city of Chernobyl.

In the city of Chernobyl

In Chernobyl, I was released around 10 am and went for a walk.
Near the shop I met a local citizen Micholaj, he works in one of the enterprises. Micholaj was very interesting to who the stalker are,so he invited me to visit and see his job. I had a lot of time to bus to Kiev, and I agreed. It turned out that the Micholajs work everyone was just getting ready for dinner and I arrived very timely  . At the table I told my story to workers and they told me about their city. In my plans was to visit the river station of Chernobyl and Valeryi (one of the workers) offered to show me the “attractions”. Walking to the river station, we visited memorial.

I general not in vain I passed to security Well, and then the bus to Kiev, and return to the gray weekdays.

But I believe that the purpose of the hike is reached ,New 2017 Year was meat,walk up along the Pripyat, Buryakovka filmed!
