The spooky season is upon us and with Halloween right around the corner, you might find yourself craving content that is a bit darker than usual. I was lucky enough to find these horror-style comics by a Taiwanese artist, Ben Chen, that fit the seasonal mood perfectly.
What really stands out about Ben’s comics are the endings—I’ll admit, I was surprised by every one of them. The artist, who posts frequently for his 4.5K Flickr followers, describes his own style as “dark, humorous and full of imagination.”

Before moving on to comics, Ben has created a lot of other illustrations. Even though they still encompassed some darkness, these illustrations were lighter than the horror-style comics. The artist has created many t-shirt illustrations that got popular on Threadless.
You never know if they are really strangers or demons under human skin......
Load More Replies...I had a book about this when I was a kid. I think it was called "who wants a old teddy bear". Little boy gets a teddy bear for a present and he yells this and kicks the teddy bear away. That night he dreams that their roles are reversed and it teaches him a lesson. I loved that book. Now I'm gonna go try to find it again. Ty
In a previous interview with Bored Panda, Ben said: “I love creating art! It’s so much fun! So I will keep drawing until I can't".
Whether he’s drawing a comic or working on an illustration, Ben needs some time to figure out the idea he wants to express to the world. He also does a few sketches and scribbles before he gets down to business and starts drawing for real.
Ben told Bored Panda that it usually takes him 2 to 3 days to finish an illustration and 4 to 5 days to draw a comic. That’s not including the time he spends refining the idea and working out what elements should be in the final pieces.
Ours just go after moths, lizards and frogs that sneak in. No mice yet.
Then the new guy asks for the helmet and gets himself a better girl and the new girl asks for the helmet and gets herself a better guy and then the new guy asks for the helmet and...
As for his advice to other illustrators, Ben said: “Try out multiple things to find what fits you and works best for you."
Ben advises artists to “build up the character” they’re drawing and use their own personality for inspiration. According to him, art is also a great way to learn more about yourself. “Then keep having fun and keep passionate through your own works of art,” Ben added.
Odd thing is this brought back memories of being at the pool or on the beach and yelling, “Dad! Throw me in! I want to do a cannonball this time!”
Caution: Active sand man. Do not litter within 50 meters of this beach.
Don't litter on the sea beach please or the sandman will teach you a lesson
Horror as a genre seems to be getting more and more popular. According to scientist Coltan Scrivner, "The fact that people were more anxious in 2020 may be one reason why horror films were so popular. For example, horror fans often mention their own anxiety and how horror helps them deal with it. They may be more of an anxious bunch than a fearless bunch." In times like these, comics like the ones Ben creates can be a great escape.
Does humanity need to lie to eachother? Are there certain time in which we need a lie to make a situation better? I feel so, I know that this is a far stretch to what could ever happen but it can be applied to almost everything. If you were told that you were beautiful when the whole world said you weren't, would that help you live a better life built on that lie? Should we really be told where we stand in this life with the truth from everyone or should we shroud our lives in a comforting lie?
yeah they're covered in carpet seasoning and that's groß gross why would you want to lick carpet seasoning

Yup... No dark ending. Tbh I expected them to cut off his head
Load More Replies...The snotty kid realised it a moment too late, and spent his dying moment wishing he hadn't been such a jerk to that boy back then
Load More Replies...Well, that's what the man literally said! The kid just filled in the rest and assumed there was more. That's why we should always ask: "Sounds great! Now where's the catch?"
This is why we dont trust men who come into gym locker rooms wearing suits and devious intentions
Remember the razor-tailed finch. Cuts off anything that sticks out more than an inch.
At my age, 50+, I'm still having these episodes every once in a while.
the number of times in my life I was dreaming about desperately needing a pee. thankfully in these dreams I never find somewhere to go. it only happened once when I had this really horrible high fever at the time, and in the dream, I found a toilet, and in the half awake state I was wondering why it was splashing up and making my bum wet.... yeah. not good.
When I spit in my dreams (I often wish that my teeth fall) I spit in real life.
The dairy industry is cruel. If the tables were turned it would appear like this.
It can be cruel, but you need to support the right companies. It feels good to the cows when we take the milk. But pls note that I’m not denying that it can/is cruel.

Yep, buzz cut is scary, that’s why they do it in the military.

There's truth to it: Applying dynamic force on your muscles, bones and joints takes its toll...maybe not instantly, and maybe not from one go, but after repeated performance and in time it ends up badly.
Djinns were NOT Disney-esque creatures. Watch the movie Wishmaster. More like the actual mythos as far as their character
Very true. The 1001 Nights have a lot of angry djinn.
