My name is Mary, for the first time in my life at 31, I’m speaking out about Mental illness and Depression. I want to speak up for those whom WE HAVE LOST IN OUR LIVES and the TWO Parkland shooting Survivors THIS WEEK that decided to take their lives.
We must educate ourselves and the only way by doing that is by Communication. I discuss what it’s like to be on the Spectrum, going through depression because I didn’t know what was wrong with my Beautiful mind. How I came so close to committing suicide…
Last night I collapsed in complete sadness and anger that another child and a beautiful mind has taken their life because of untreated depression.

Share on FacebookEven for people who do have help still feel helpless at times. One thing that is a common misconception is that people who commit suicide don’t love those around them. As someone who has attempted suicide a couple of times and talking to others that have attempted, I can tell you now that most people commit suicide because they feel they don’t deserve love. They feel worthless and they are a burden to their families/friends. It’s because we love our families that we feel suicide is the only way to relieve them from us. Remember this isn’t rational thought and behaviour. Depression makes us think these things, it’s not a choice to have these feelings. In a right frame of mind we can rationalise that it is ridiculous thinking you don’t deserve love etc but depression isn’t rational.
Very well written and explained!!! That is exactly how I felt and think at times
