For many, the best way to deal with a traumatic event is to turn to humour. When the FCC voted recently to repeal rules and regulations that protect net neutrality, the internet responded with furious outrage in the way it knows best, hilariously biting memes and tweets.
While some reactions (particularly those directed at villain of the piece, FCC Chairman Ajit Pai) get dangerously close to crossing the line between humour and outright abuse, most have been as creative, sarcastic and ingeniously funny as we have come to expect from the hive mind of the internet. While we can continue to have fun with this for some time to come, it's important to note that the issue is far from settled. While the FCC claims to act in the interest of the public, these kind of protests flooding in from all angles expose this as a falsehood. The protests do have an effect, as there are people working behind the scenes to protect our rights and by making our voices heard we give them valuable tools to work with!

So, here are a few things. First, it is not official yet.While this is obviously an intense breach of democracy and we all NEED to be angry, the net neutrality repeal still has to go through Congress, who has repealed the vote the last two times it was offered. There is still hope. We all need to text, call and mail our local representatives to keep the fight going.
Also... ironically, PornHub's twitter tweeted a pretty funny reaction, saying this: NetNeutral...66d154.png

Well, it will put me out of business if it goes down as people say. I have a teensy home business on a website, I make a profit of only about $2k/yr. I am retired living off tiny pension and SS, but IRS takes 1/3+ of my profits. Might be more next year when the “Tax Cut” plays out. So when peope can’t load my website because its all photos, there goes my “business”. Thanks Ajit. Thanks Trump. I was able to buy groceries on that $2k.

In the extreme service providers can now charge you to get in to Tier 1 access (also know as normal internet). However do not fear it is unlikely that they will target small businesses. As this goes against the republican party's promise to help small business.... C**p I forgot... Corporations don't give a c**p about small businesses. So why did we remove regulations again that allow them to do this? Ugh what a mess.

It's sad to see Net NEUTRALity go. One more stronghold for SJ, democracy and fairness gone. The internet should be free for everybody who wants it. We have the technology for fast speeds, so it's possible to provide it for everyone! ISPs should be a utility/right so no one can abuse it to make profit from that. If the government regulates it, there will be no company deciding who gets what speed (just the ones who can afford it!), or who sees what. Then we can finally put an end to all this "fake news" cries from the Orange Lovers and Make The Internet Fair Again! All they do is to stay in the way of progress with hate and greed, and it's time that they get what they deserve... we are louder than they, and we will be back. With lawsuits and with protests.

Stop being so negative, people! The end of net neutrality is NOT the end of the Internet! Slowing down service and/or blocking websites can give ISPs a bad reputation, and only the companies using lots of data will have to pay more. The Internet was fine before the laws were passed in 2015, so it will still be fine after the net neutrality repeal. The Internet lives on before, during, and after net neutrality, so STOP THE PANICKING!

Net neautrality ensures that all and every content available on the internet will have the same availability of bandwidth provided by ISP (Internet Service Provider). With Net Neutrality killed, ISPs have "right" to slow down websites and/or services by they choosing. For example, if a certain ISP has their own movie streaming service they can give super slow bandwidth to let's say Netflix...and you as their customer if you want Netflix at full speed you need to pay extra. This creates an unfair market and a power to ISP to shove their own or sponsored content to their customers unless they pay extra money

Net neutrality was around before 2015. In fact, the term was coined in 2003. We did have it before. It's just that the FCC got involved in 2015. I don't understand how anyone can support the decision to allow companies to f**k us all over. I truly don't get why you don'd mind that a company can, at will, decide to charge you more for suing certain sites, or slow down the internet if they feel like it.
