Literally, any cosmetic can be labeled as “natural” because there is no law in the US or UK to regulate its use. My aim was to give myself tough restrictions in an attempt to craft truly natural makeup. Everything I used was created by nature.

Eggs and snow formed the glue to attach the false lashes to the eyelid. Scavenged foliage from a local forest was used to create the fake lashes. Each eyelash took about an hour to make demonstrating it is time-consuming to craft completely natural makeup looks. The lashes themselves have a shelf-life of about 24-hours before they start to wilt and fall apart.

This art project started whilst on my undergraduate graphic design course at Kingston University, but I don’t think it’s complete just yet, there’s a lot of potential in the DIY cosmetic department and makeup ideas that I want to explore.
