I am a mother of two children and a child photographer, and over the last year I undertook a project to photograph children with owls in different settings. Children love owls very much, and smaller children especially behave very directly during shoots. I use different environments, colours and stories. I take photos of children with other animals also, but owls are the most popular with children.
For me, the owl is a symbol of the photographer. As he sits on a branch, he is silent and has an absolute view of the events around him. He is able to focus on a sound or movement in the landscape without the slightest movement or the wink of an eye. He sees everything, he knows how to wait, and always knows exactly when the moment is right. And that’s how it is in photography as well.
Taking pictures of children is demanding, and taking photographs of children and animals is sometimes a superhuman task, but I am delighted to push the borders and keep trying something new.
