Fun fact: my first ever Dungeons & Dragons character was a paladin, and the only person who could heal in the party. So of course, when he was knocked unconscious, everybody scrabbled for the healing potions.

Of which we had none, of course.

He died as a result, but there is a happy ending: we had a sp00ky doll that brought him back with a few new scars, but otherwise his normal gruff self. And we learned an important lesson: never go adventuring without a healer, health potions, or better yet, both.

Every game or tabletop RPG has a different recipe for a potion of healing—if it has a recipe at all. So I needed to come up with something that looked the part, was immediately recognisable as a healing potion regardless of fandom, and tasted good too.

Hence the recipe below was born: a swirling, fruity, sweetened bombshell of a cocktail that has that bright crimson that’s so iconic, along with a creamy coconut fullness that will put a smile on your face—even in the face of imminent character death.

Here’s to not needing to roll a new character. Cheers!
