A few weeks ago, I was doing some extra chores while off work during our canadian covid 19 quarantine. While I was cleaning out our shed, I came across our two Halloween Skeletons who normally only see the light of day during the month of October.

Having been frustrated at all of the people across North America demanding to be able to carry on like normal, despite the health risks, a question began to formulate. What would the Grim Reaper’s protest look like if he were to disguise himself as different people in order to trick us into going out and about.

And so, over the next two weeks, I put together clothing, costumes and protest signs trying to use word play that would catch the attention of others. I also secured a great scythe from a friend as my pale activists’ final accessory.

After several hours spent setting these skeletons up and taking photos around town (which garnered many strange looks from passersby), I was finally able to post them on my Facebook page (full photoshoot here):

….as well as a video for my tiktok account:

The response has so far been great, not only in my hometown of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, but also far beyond with thousands of people liking, commenting, sharing and discussing the photos and video of my boney activists.

I only hope that my project gives people a much needed laugh and keeps people talking about doing what is important: keeping ourselves and others safe and staying well away from Death’s Doorstep.
