Hey my name is Thyla and I’m a designer living in sunny South Africa. Last year, while working at a design agency, I was asked to illustrate a pin-up mascot for one of our clients for their mobile coffee trailer. I often dabble in organic illustration from time to time, but my anatomy skills – lacklustre to say the least.

This is when I decided to contact my close friend, Meg, who is currently studying different methods of art therapy. Unfortunately, the agency chose to go with another artist who specialises in pin-up illustration. Meg is one of the most generous people I know, and goes above and beyond to help others, even when struggling to make ends meet. She is actively involved at her church, does food drives, bakes, sews and even dabbles in cosplaying on the side. On top of all of this, Meg is very humble despite her talents in (self-taught) digital illustration.

I hope that by sharing her work, I’m able to help her get some commissions, and contribute to her wedding that she is planning in a few years time (Her long-time high school sweetheart proposed to her on New Years eve, but because of their financial situation, she’ll still have to save up for quite some time).

Thank you for reading her story and I hope her illustrations inspire you, just like they have inspired me.
