My name is Dan. I travel around the world with one mission: to take pictures of watermelons, watermelons and people. People who carry them, people who serve them, people who bite them and people who share them. Watermelons that jump from a cargo ship in Vietnam, that hide at a cold Mongolian market, that are abundant in summer in Transylvania, juicy in Serbia, colorful in Malaysia and huge in Beijing. They inspire me.

Months pass, and so do villages, cities and countries. The Watermelon reaches unimaginable dimensions. It ceases being a fruit and emerges as a connector where its reds and greens and its seeds develop.

The watermelon allows an approach to atypical contexts, it presents itself as an exploratory tool, promoting involvement. The watermelon leads me to embark on a unique journey, to see a world that is fresh and different.

I discover. The watermelon has the power to create a universal language. It works as a bridge that connects cultures, erases languages, opens the doors of houses, promoting joy. Through the watermelon, stories are discovered and realities are told. The watermelon generates spontaneity, curiosity, exchange, smiles and invitations. It allows to play, to invent a world of fantasy and imagination. It gives color to the context. It breaks the routine, even for a second, at any moment. A watermelon is never out of place. However, at the same time, I learn that, in spite of everything, the watermelon is just a fruit.
