Today we’d like for you to meet the artist Mahnaz Yazdani. Mahnaz’s deep and meaningful work often portrays society's problems in surrealistic illustrations that tend to show how everyday people (just like us) suffer from things that seemingly the rest of our modern society refuses to acknowledge more often than not.

One could say we probably have gotten used to the said problems just because we are always surrounded by them, so much that we don't even notice them anymore. However, things such as war, global pandemic, and problems revolving around our mental health aren’t going anywhere any time soon.

All in all, Yazdani’s work might give you a thought or two regarding the way we live currently.

Bored Panda also reached out to the artist to find out a little bit more about her and her work.

"I am a storyteller who tells most of her stories in her comics and animations. I started my art journey as an animator and cartoonist twenty years ago. My focus was on making animation for years. Since 2015, I have been professionally drawing editorial cartoons. I had so many stories in my mind waiting to be created, but animating all of them needed lots of years, so I chose comic style to tell my stories faster."

I really like this one. Sharing ideas and love being where they all intersect. Very cute.

"Maybe the main characteristic of mine has led me to create such art: a humoristic outlook and thinking about the feelings of other people, for example, how does a kid feel under bombardment. Those help me to create a humorous story and then tell it in the shape of a comic, cartoon, or animation."

So beautifully illustrated, yet so devistately accurate and confronting. Currently we are being told to take our empty plastic bags back to our house, because the seahorses are dying.

That's what happens when you build an entire culture hyper focused on generating only "likes" instead of realistic feedback. They post tripe for an endorphin hit and non-stop validation, and are absolutely destroyed when somebody, anybody has the gall to not fall down and worship their idiotic childish ramblings.

Social media and sites (media in general) was created through the constant, forever changing, impossible, societal standards placed upon three generations and counting going digitally social inducing the addiction to instant gratification and attention. Unfortunately it has become impossible for a single person to stay high on the amount of instant gratification and attention they recieve that they crave more and in turn do more, to where they are so out of character and become a shell of their former selves. Causing emptiness and feelings of worthlessness. This culture in itself is very harmful to anyone's mental health in one way or another. Honestly the best way to beat it, is to give little to no participation. After all when has Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc ever given any of their users a participation trophy for using their site? Also earning likes is not as rewarding when you had to become superficial and act so out of character for them.

Exactly why we took our 12 year olds phone away. We know where he is. No need for a phone distract him let alone warp his thinking into something untrue.

To me reminds me of Reddit when you are trying to ask for help/advice on something and ppl downvotes you but yet won't tell you the reason why they did that. OR Since that is a Doctor at the desk, I guess she disproves of something about the child(most likely too much time on line since little kid has phone in her dress pocket). BUT ppl doesn't realize it's not ONLY when kids are at home or in the car BUT AT SCHOOL also! My 13yr old has no text books just Chromebooks doing classwork from them. Gee 8hrs a day on Chromebook doing classwork that's already over the recommended screen time from Dr's.... When they get home from school they will get on the Chromebook to do homework... Welp there's another hr of screentime.... Then once your kid gets on their phone for random surfing, face time, social sites. Oops Johnny, you went over the recommend screen time. Nope sorry. Pediatrics needs to realize 8yrs of screentime is during SCHOOL HOURS instead of text books......

My school still uses text books and during free time we read a book, draw, color, do any papers we haven't finished yet, or sit and talk quietly with friends.

Ever since the 80s, we've been living in a world defined by image. But the rise of social media has made it so much worse. I was bullied in school cuz I looked different, and didn't have designer clothes like they did. It got so severe that I have been diagnosed with CPTSD as an adult. If social media was a thing back then, I am terrified to think of how much more damage the other kids could have done.

Google translation of her post on Instagram: For my mother and aunts ... My mother and aunts spent many years of their lives behind the carpet, from childhood to the years they experienced motherhood. The weavers built a ladder to bring themselves and their families to what they are now and will be. I'm proud of having such strong women in my life. Women who, believing in better tomorrows, bought the hardest and continue to buy ... Your hard-working hands are the most beautiful hands ....

Literally happened to a friend. Her house was older and NOT in a flood zone. Developer put in condos that caused her property to periodically flood when it rained. It was loveable until hurricane Irma came through and her house got 4 ft of water in it. No flood insurance (because again, NOT IN A FLOOD ZONE), but homeowner's insurance refused to pay because it was a flood event. Turns out the permits for the condos were illegally issued because it was pretty clear what works happen to the properties on the downward slope of the ground they built up to build the condos, bus sure couldn't find an attorney to take the case to sue the county and the contractor for the damage.
