On a mission to make airplane travel cleaner & healthier, entrepreneur Gina Hoensheid created a kit complete with two sanitary wipes, an allergy mask and a peanut sticker, which is priceless, in bringing awareness of nut allergies to neighboring passengers and flight attendants.

Born out of necessity because she didn’t want one more vacation ruined from the kiddos or her husband getting sick from the airplane travel, Seat Sitters has become a nationwide phenomenon. Seat Sitters has been featured on ABC World News Now, Forbes.com, The Boston Globe, Inc.com, Yahoo Finance and TheKnot.com, just to name a few. Not to mention, this patent pending kit was also named to the prestigious Amazon.com “Choice List”.

“I wanted to create a product that was easy to use, Eco-friendly and would give people peace of mind during travel”, Gina explains. “After doing some research I realized just how long germs can survive on surfaces and how germy travel can be.”

As a result of a two-year study by a team of microbiologists and engineers at Auburn University in Alabama, the real problems lie on the chair upholstery, the tray table, the armrests and the toilet handle, where bacteria such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and E. coli can live for up to a week on airplanes that aren’t properly cleaned.

The FAA doesn’t regulate or inspect aircraft cleaning, so frequency and thoroughness are left up to the airlines themselves. As a rule of thumb, an aircraft is supposed to be completely wiped down after every 30 days of service or at 100 flying-hour intervals.

Gina created this travel kit to keep all moms, dads, kiddos and business travelers clean and healthy whenever they fly.

“This kit isn’t just for germaphobes”, emphasizes Gina. “It is about a healthy lifestyle way to travel. Business travelers who are going directly to a meeting in their suit can put the seat sitter in confidence knowing that there is a barrier between their fresh suit and any possible gunk that may have been left by the previous passenger.

Gina wants to change the face of travel making it clean, healthy and fun. “My husband wants to disown me because I talk to every flight attendant and pilot about my product, “she chuckles. “But they all love it and think it is a great idea”, she gushes. Hoensheid admits that she is not even a germaphobe but hates the thought of laying her head back on a grimy airplane seat and touching the germ laden armrests and tray tables.

Sold on Amazon.com for just $14.99, Gina believes it’s a small price to pay for peace of mind and healthy travel.
