Photographer Turns Model Kits Of Robots Into Classical Paintings: The Mechalangelo Project
I start working on this first series during lockdown period in 2020: first of all I’ve choosen my favourite robots from the mecha golden period (70-80’s). After building the model kits, you need to disassembled them to paint each single pieces, than rebuild everything. While I was trying to understand their posability I found the inspiration: great classical and iconic poses from greatest artists in history.
After the shooting, I spent several days retouching and creating the digital painting effect.
Now I’m working on the second series, more subjects, new robots, new paintings, stay tuned.
