Just Sharing A Beautiful Life

Someone else picked you out as a puppy.
Someone else house broke you.
Someone else got to play fetch with you and knew your favorite toy.
Someone else took you in their car to the park.
Someone loved you for the first 12+years of your life.
Then one day, Someone gave up.
Who knows if it was weeks or months that you wondered, or if you were just dropped off somewhere nearby. You ended up on my back porch, frantically sniffing out any food your nose could find, barely more than skin and bones. We could see your struggle to keep your legs moving, despite your desperate need for food. I grabbed a handful of treats and let you follow me around so you wouldn’t take off to the next house looking. We brought you into our home and fed you (just a little so you wouldn’t be sick). You paced and paced and paced, still searching for food, then we showed you the bed and not 10 minutes later, you were out cold! A few hours later, we said goodnight- you didn’t even flinch, it was late the next morning when we woke you up- pretty sure you slept a solid 14 hours!!
We shared your picture around the community just hoping that Someone was missing you! Many people told me to take you to a “Doggy Retirement Home”, but you were already getting settled and I wasn’t about to pass you off too.
For seven months you lived with us. You barked at 4 o’clock in the morning and pooped all over the floor. You just about drove us NUTS!!
But when we opened our home to you, you walking into our hearts- we couldn’t help that and we would never give up on you, like Someone did.
On Wednesday, November 9th, You ate your breakfast and went outside. It was a slower morning for you. Then when it was time for dinner, you didn’t want to come in. Dad went outside and carried you in- we knew you wouldn’t be with us much longer. We offered some beggin’ strips- I know you LOVED them, but you didn’t touch them. We said goodnight and that was goodbye. It tore us up inside to say goodbye to you- especially knowing that Someone out there passed you off to avoid this pain.
Thank you for digging into our hearts- We hope we brought you as much joy as you brought us.
