In Wanaka, New Zealand, there is a well-known track to Rob Roy´s Peak. However, for some reason, a lot of people completely miss Isthmus Peak, which seems much more amazing! I did the track this July and it was really awesome.

Track begins at lake Hawea and it starts being steep very soon. You’ll have views of a rural land and the lake from here.
Once you get to the ridge, you will see lake Wanaka, which is on the other side of the mountains.
If the weather is calm, you can see Southern Alps reflected in lake Wanaka from the top of Isthmus Peak.
On your way back you’ll have great panoramatic views of lake Hawea and the Alps right in front of you.
Everything is turning red in the evening light, even lake Hawea.
