The fields of Kurdistan province in western Iran are among the most suitable ones for cultivating sunflower, whose seeds are widely used in Iran for oil extraction.

Sunflowers are usually tall annual or perennial plants that in some species can grow to a height of 300 cm (120 in) or more.
