Somebody Is Showing How Instagram Photos Are All Starting To Look The Same, And It’s Depressing (New Pics)
If you've seen one Instagram photo, you've seen them all. Social media pages about photography are supposed to display the unique perspectives of artists captured through their lenses, but if you follow enough of them, you might observe an odd trend of deja vu photo ideas - and you would be right. 'Insta Repeat' is an Instagram page that documents the repetition of the same landscape photography shots found on the app in side by side compilations. Perhaps this story might feel like deja vu, that's because we introduced 'Insta Repeat' last year. The page now has 303k followers.
Created by an anonymous 27-year-old from Anchorage, Alaska, the filmmaker and artist told Photoshelter that “A purpose of Insta Repeat is to critique originality in media creation through the lens (pun intended) of this one ‘genre’ of Instagram influencer photography accounts.”
Living in Alaska, a vast wilderness where so many 'adventurers' come to take cool photos, she was struck by how the same few places and scenarios kept showing up again and again on her feed of beautiful photoshoot ideas. “I have noticed it in general on a lot of different platforms and media and have been guilty of it myself for sure,” she told Bored Panda. “Artists and creators fall into patterns. But I think that what is happening on Instagram is more extreme.” Scroll down below to see the newest insta repeat photos, and don't forget to upvote your favs!

Person Centered, Standing In A Rock In A Teal Lake
I don't think this is as bad as some of the others, I think taking a picture of a person in front of pretty scenery is a pretty common way to take pictures, in and outside of Instagram
When I do it, I face the camera that way scenery is in the background. I thought that's how it was done. May be I am just wrong or too old.
Load More Replies...People have been taking photos of themselves or their friends or family in front of beautiful and popular places since the camera became a popular method of recording information. What people are now realizing isn't necessarily that its the same thing, what they're realizing is what photogs have been having to do since the advent of the cam, trying to be original in an almost impossible field. But we continue to try! Cheers! Happy Shooting! ;-)
I remember a long, long time ago ( before instagram).for this type of photo used to face the camera
Technique: 10 points. Originality: 0 points. Overall score: Boring as soon as you look at the second picture in each group.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wanderer_above_the_Sea_of_Fog Oh no, everyone copies Caspar David Friedrich!
The World Record of the most liked picture on Instagram goes to a video of an egg cracking itself. Created with the intention of booting Kylie Jenner from the top spot, who had over 50 million likes for a photo of her with Stormi Webster.
A Single, Centered Tent, Lit Up, Captured With A Long Exposure In Front Of The Milky Way
when you realize how hard to get this shot, that list becomes a group of dedicated people rather than a group of cliches
Any picture of the milky way is a picture worth taking! They are super amazing here in Hawaii. A few of our amazing photogs have the Milky way with lava and the glow. Unbelievable!
This Place Again
Don't you people watch the news, and hear of people and their insta photo fails?!? I just don't understand the risk!
As Eirik said, this is Preikestolen in Norway. I've been there and a LOT of people line up to take this photo.
Load More Replies...When on earth did they manage to go there and not find the entire thing packed with tourists?
Tis has nothing to do with a specific Instagram pic. It's just really touristy. And that's what tourists do. They don't go there bc they want an Instagram pic. They go there bc it's gorgeous and then post it on Instagram.
Facebook and YouTube are the only other platforms that have more people that log on than Instagram. Out of Instagram’s 1 billion monthly active users, more than 500 million of them use the platform every day.
Person Centered In Front Of This Big Rock In This One Cave. Also It Has Come To My Attention That You Aren’t Supposed To Go Here. Respect The Parks
This is Johnston Canyon. It is off limits because of nesting endangered birds. Its something like a 25000 dollar fine to go down there.
Wow.... never saw birds there... glad I wasn't caught!
Load More Replies...Splashing Drinks Out Of Camp Mugs
Visually kinda neat to have liquid suspended in air, but not so practical in the end
Load More Replies...The drink will go into the water body and pollute it and kill several animals… just sad.
Why are millennials always on their phones? They are probably scrolling through Instagram. 71% of Instagram users around the globe are under the age of 35 and the breakdown between women and men is virtually even.
Inspirational Quote
I mean, I hope someone took the p**s out of it and just had a photo like this with the caption that just said "Inspirational Quote" because that's something I would do lol.
Ok but the top right pic with the beautiful yellow trees behind it is actually a really beautiful photo!
god don't you just hate inspirational quotes....philosophy is hard, you don't have the answers just because you look hot in a bikini or have the money to travel to some cool place everyone else has been to
I miss autumn, I love these! I dont give a f**k about how many people post this shot. I have lived in UAE for 17 years, where it's summer all year round. When I'm getting out of it, Ill be making a pic with every damn fallen leaf i can find!
Person Centered In This Ice Cave (The Holy Trinity Of Fabians)
Well, you can't go to this amazing place and NOT have this picture taken.
But you could decide to keep it to yourself and not post it to insta :D
Load More Replies...What else are you supposed to do there? And are we saying only one person gets to take this picture? Why so offended?
Dunno... Maybe look around, be present, appreciate the place, like it instead of thinking about the likes? Do you just go places to take pictures?
Load More Replies...wow thats really cool. where is this? I've never seen it on instagram before?
Instagram surpassed Snapchat for the first time in 2018 as the top platform for teenagers. 72% of U.S. teens use Instagram and on the flip side, 35% of online adults use Instagram with 28 percent of them in the U.S.
Watch Pose: “The Reach”
Bridges In The Woods With A Person
I get the sameness of the photos, but these are gorgeous and I am having quite a bit of wanderlust looking at these.
I agree!! Not too long ago these kind of photos were taken only by a special few, now that so many people are having the opportunity to do it, what with travel and good cameras being so much more available/affordable, it's not at all surprising that we are seeing so much repetition.
Load More Replies...These are beautiful, how amazing to be able to go somewhere like that
I actually might take this photo....but only as a memory of having been there, with a much closer view of the person
Under-25-year-olds use Instagram 32 minutes a day compared to that of people 25 years and older who use it 24 minutes per day. This is more than before thanks to Instagram Stories. This update is another reason the app has managed to surpass Snapchat.
Canoe But With Red
Well, actually, when you are canoeing you are supposed to wear something bright, in order to be easily seen in case you flip and fall
What would really be impressive is if someone could take a picture in the canoe, splashing coffee from the mug, in the teal lake wearing red
Can't people just enjoy something and not have to document it to the world? How much more fun would a the trip if you didn't constantly have to take pictures......just gets old
"One's going east, the other’s going west. So what?" blog-Pileg...7b9a67.jpg
I agree with Johane Roberts, they should add a dog. Everything is better with a dog. <3

Someday, someone will pass through... with all the consequences possible in a place that seems to be in the middle of nowhere
Load More Replies...Again, all of them are quire different! You have to admire the strive to be different & creative
Feet+back Of Car
this one isn't that bad compared to the other ones. if i had a van/camper, i'd at least take one picture like that.
The only one that is good is with the dog...other than that why do I want to look at people's feet? Just stupid
To be fair...I recognize one of these pictures as being from the earlier BP post about people converting vans into mini-homes.
Vertical Road Drone
Nope. Zoomed in, it's a vehicle. However, these would be good places for a road side body dump.
Load More Replies...Person Centered On The Beach In Front Of A Big Rock
Haystack rock. Cannon Beach, OR...kind of a landmark on the Pacific coast
Again the only good one is with the dog! Why can't people just be people, what the hell is an Instagram model anyway?
Well, it's a big rock, in a beautiful place, you are there, take the picture. I don't see the matter.
Centered, Empty, Moody, Wooden Pathways
These photos looks really great until you put them together.. Then it's just weird
Just today I litterally saw one really similar, if not the same, to the pic before the last one lol..
Films Not Dead
The headline should be “Film’s Not Dead.” Without the apostrophe, the sentence is just nonsensical. It took me a second to figure out what it meant. Why are films not dead? And what does that even mean?
When I was little (like 6 years old) my uncle took a similar foto or me, it was a spontaneous idea and I still have the picture
Dead enough if you ask me. But hey, we all love that special feeling...
Flashlight Up Again
I like these but I've never seen a flashlight that cast a beam like these. They look more like light sabers.
the middle right one is a great picture tho, the rest are kinda meh
Thunder… thunder… thundercats! Hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Wow This Bridge Is So Cool- So Glad I Get To See It From All Angles
This bridge IS so cool! If I went there I would take the exact same photo, but with a dog. If I ever had a dog.
This is an extremely beautiful place though! So, I understand this one ;).
Actually they are lucky to have these shots, this bridge was damaged and closed after a horrendous fire in 2017
Person Centered And Sitting On Rock Near Lake
Move the person off-center! Hasn't anybody taken a photography class?
Off centre is better in rectangular shots, not in square shots
Load More Replies...Is it not cool to actually look at the camera anymore?? What's with all the back shots??
These photos just scream, “Look at me in this gorgeous place I am and you’re not!”
Wait.....aren't these the same photos as the people STANDING near a teal lake
Johane Roberts you crack me up! Once again you are right...a dog would perfect this photo. =)
Person Centered On A Curly Tree Road
I would definitely take a million pictures here. I don't blame them a bit.
Curvy Roads
Tbh, some of the roads where I live are curvier than some of these.... Am I weird?
Drone Looking Directly Down In Centered Lake
Person In Middle Of Snowy Road
yeah isn't it so weird that snow looks the same in different photos. lame
Load More Replies...Person Centered Against Full Frame Waterfall
ok, i realize that's probably the best way to photograph a person in front of a waterfall, but why are some many of them wearing a yellow raincoat?
It's in fashion right now, those types of yellow raincoats. And it makes sense to wear a color that stands out, like yellow or red
Load More Replies...I was in Iceland last year and you better bet I took a picture in front of every (large) waterfall we stopped at. What are you supposed to do, just not take a picture?
I have a pic in front of the waterfall with a yellow plastic raincoat because the store only had yellow.
More Of This
Again, I don't think these are a bad or an Instagram fad, I think taking pics of someone in the woods is pretty normal and doesn't mean they're copying each other.
Yeah, I would definitely want to have my picture taken in a gorgeous forest like this.
Load More Replies...They all love the woods, glad to see that. The more who love nature, the more who will defend it.

My favorite is still a T-Rex with "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear".
Feet By The
The most r******d photographers shoot their legs and feet for the representation of how cosy they are. Where actually they are freezing in s****y cold conditions..
Person At The Edge Of A Cliff
I've found for myself a good rule: before doing something potentially dangerous ask yourself if people would laugh after reading the cause of death on your tombstone.
idk man, "fell to his death" doesn't sound particularly laughable to me. But, y'know, that's just me.
Load More Replies...Not only dangerous and stupid, but who is standing on the opposing cliff taking the picture??
Oh God I hope not too many people die trying to get this shot!!!
Person Centered In An Ice Cave
I used to work at a very popular public garden in nz and there are a million tourists a year . As a worker I saw hundreds of people a day taking the same pictures. People even stand in the same way, enact the same emotions and memes but are aiming for a unique memory to share on social media. Some people even just enter the garden take a picture and walk out. People do the same at beaches after they have the pictures they leave. Social media works on the idea of individuality but as these pictures here show how individual are we ? It would be really different to not record at all and feel the place.
Technique: 10 points. Originality: 0. Overall score: Boring.as soon as you look at the second picture in each group.
Person Standing Centered At The End Of A Dock
Before You Comment, I’m Not Blaming The Cows! I Understand That They Are All Unique Creatures That Are Each Different In Their Own Ways And Deserve To Be Photographed Infinitely... But On The Other Hand, They Aren’t.
I Don’t Think You Are Supposed To Feed The Wild Animals
Person Standing In The Middle Of This Insta-Bridge
Is this an abandoned railroad bridge??? Otherwise WTH are they doing there??? I know railroad tracks are pretty, and for many photographers they appeal to their desire for photos with "motion" or "direction" but trains kill a LOT of people every year for doing this exact thing.

Person Looking Up In Orange Slot Canyon

I like them too. I don't use instagram, perhaps if I did I would have seen this done a lot and it would get tedious, but I'm just appreciating these pics for what they are: enchanting.

I don't see any problems with this. Most of them are really nice pictures. Very little is original in this world. It's amusing to see just how similar they are, but that doesn't make them any less pretty.
Agree. If I could I would make a set of this pics with me as protagonist i would love it.
Load More Replies...Honestly, what I find even more upsetting than the similarities it's the fact that instagram was supposed to be a way for an average to take a quick photo with their phone, slap a filter on it and post. Instead those pictures are taken by professional photographers using professional equipment, photoshopped into oblivion and then posted with a #livinginthemoment
its nice to take photos and all, but going in a place just to take photos, and spend one hour doing only that, well you lose the point. im sure most of them just forget to have fun or actually notice the scenery around them.
Load More Replies...And it is wrong? Those places are beautiful. If I got the chance to visit them, I'd probably take similar picture too..
As a photographer I can see a great variety of pictures, showing that even in the same place, with the same frame, the vibes and aesthetic can be very different.
Load More Replies...Why is it "depressing"? There are 50 Billion photos on instagram (Not exaggerating) So of course there will be similarities. Also, everyone can see everyone else's photos. Trends pop up more quickly and on a large scale. Also, instagram allows people to monetize their photos with advertisers and so forth; so to a certain point many people are creating a product they already know is popular.... like Renaissance painters... except it's instant.
These are ALL very nice looking photos. Perfectly captured, perfectly set up, perfectly edited ... someone feeling a little jealous because he's never been to these places and doesn't know how to shoot?
How dare people take gorgeous pictures of where they are, the audacity!
I'd like to see the compiler's instagram account. I could probably find 500 photos to match each of hers, too
