Okay.

Time to expose myself, for better or worse.

My favorite state, or genre, is suspense. The genre trappings are not very important, as long as I generate anxiety and dread in the viewer/reader by feeling it these things myself in the creating.

I use silences and lack of dialogue and sound effects as one of my artistic arsenal tools. This is something that I see more in manga than in other comics, and it’s very effective.

I’ll share the finished page later. For now I want to tell you that if you like espionage tales and unexplained phenomena, you’ll want to read this book when it’s finished and I make it available. I drew inspiration from stories of Men In Black, those tall, thin men in black suits, dark sunglasses and hats that show up at people’s homes after they report seeing a UFO and act shifty and threatening.

I also drew inspiration from our devices, the fact that we take it for granted that our phones are listening on us. I played the “what if” game:

What if the phone did more than just listen? What if it gave us instructions to do something?

What if we were pre-conditioned to obey, so when the phone rings and the instructions come, we’re helpless to resist the instructions?

Keep checking back! The book will be finished soon.
