Have you ever experienced an electronic music record in Virtual Reality? No? The fact is, there are no full length records out there in Virtual Reality.

You might have had the chance to try a VR Videoclip or a 360° video, maybe you have the Oculus Rift and you tried some of the demos, if so you can imagine what I’m talking about, except this goes in deep a 100%.

In the past months I’ve been working on my new album (I’m Edisonnoside btw), it’s called MONO NO AWARE and it’s an instrumental electronic music record, but all through the process I have been associating visual concepts to the tracks and beats. So I was constantly asking myself: “How can I communicate both to people? How can I expand the boundaries of musical experience beyond audio formats?”. This is not new to me, in the past 5 years I have released many projects exploring this question, except there is no standard for this kind of work yet, and every new idea needs adjustment, often reinventing.

So the next question was: “How can I package the whole concept, not just the music, in 2016?”. After some investigation I decided that VR and 3D sound are the perfect combination to create that cohesive layer to the concept behind my record, then my choice fell on Cardboard Goggles and a mobile app as means to consume it. The idea is to suggest a possible future for music where the physicality of sound can be fully experienced in virtual spaces, through the use of everyday devices.

The app itself stems from a really simple concept: the sonic experience based on the music, empowered by the visual concept of the record (which also features in the album artwork).

Both visuals and sound are connected in a synesthetic way where one increases the impact of the other. Exploring a virtual space through invisible sound sources will activate a multi sensory experience where sound is the driving force for the exploration of a surreal world populated by abstract sound objects.

To do all of this, which involves creating LP Vinyl, Mobile Apps and custom Cardboard Goggles, I launched and INDIEGOGO Campaign that will end in less than two weeks.
